We appreciate the video and kudos, Blake! You raise a fair concern about replacement part costs, and we understand. As you suggest, this type of repair is not common at all. Our confidence in the robustness of the Combo’s design led to us establishing a 5-year warranty on the heat pump drying system. Should the repair become necessary, the 5-year warranty keeps consumer repair costs on the drying system under control, and complete drying system replacement lets us evaluate in depth and establish root cause. We are thrilled that there is such an enthusiastic community around the GE Profile combo products and it’s people like you that help us think about how we continually improve our products. We are on a journey towards offering individual drying system parts in the future to reduce replacement part costs as well as the technician’s time in completing the repair, and that brings “good things to life” for us all! Thank you, again, for your video!

Own the LG. No problems thus far. Keep up the good work informing us about malfunctions. It's a crap shoot for all the models, but for guys like me who don't have an out vent for a conventional dryer, these machines are ideal.

Glad to hear your LG is running strong! Hopefully any kinks that arise with these new models are worked out quickly. Thanks for watching!

this is such useful information, everything these days are built to eventually fail, due to planned obsolescence. some "obsolesce" more quickly than they were designed to do. sometimes a manufacturers gets a bad lot of parts, sometime it's just bad core engineering. knowing what you're getting into for a 2k unit is important, but who is making washer driers that are going to last 20 years, like the old one's do, these days?

To be honest it should be illegal because currently population is high and the more of this happens the more crap that goes into the landfills and the less materials we have to use, And to top it off all the chemicals that pollutes as these machines are being made.

Just to be clear, we're not saying this was planned obsolescence. To be fair to GE, out of the many many units of these we've sold in the last year, this was the first one Blake has encountered in service! The main point of our video was that this compressor system is very expensive, so just know that IF repairs do come up they might be pricey.

What about the lint collecting on the coils issue?

This is a product that I would only buy if I had a severe shortage of space. It's an impressive product in the same way that a TV VCR combo was back in the day but like a TV VCR combo, there's a lot of potential for problems and for one part to break while the other part is okay. If you have the space, I would stick with either stackables or traditional separate units.

Where this unit really shines is definitely in those tight spaces! Thanks for watching.

First and foremost, thank you for this information. Now I have a question. Is this one GE Profile All-in-One that failed, or have you experienced others as well? I know it's still fairly new on the market, and it'll be a few years before we have a sufficient cohort of used machines to judge by.

We can't speak for the entire market, but out of all of the units we've sold here in our Saint George, Utah location, this is the first one Blake has encountered that has failed. So while the failure was a big component, the fact that it was the first one he's seen is a good sign. Thanks for watching!

You'd need a really good reason to buy this instead of a tower or two separate units. Not that many people have those reasons. It requires consistent cleaning. It means you can only do one load at a time. It is heavy. Really heavy for an upstairs unit.
@BoulevardHome

It is definitely heavy! Something to keep in mind for sure if taking it upstairs.

@@hurricanefreak101 I've heard the GE has issues with wet lint in the filter section but not the LG as it typically dries in the filter area for the LG for some reason, unlike the GE

That's a good question! When it comes up we'll be sure to inform, but off the top of my head I'd imagine it might be a little cheaper, because the compressor is actually smaller in the LG. But we'll see!

Yeah I just threw $10.000 out the door for a heat pump/hot water system. Would have been cheaper to have electric heat and water. 4 years old, nothing last very long these days.
