The best time of my Life was growing up in the 70's. It wasn't like it is now. We cleaned up on, Saturday morning did our chores watched Band Stand and Soul Train. And got ready for soul night at the skating rink...that's if our mama let us go.

To our Black Youth...Put down the guns and pick up the skates like we use to do back in the day... the antidote to frustration, worry, and negative thinking is having fun, joy, and laughter. Skating can bring all of this to your soul!
@valvacious2793
@valvacious2793 6 жыл бұрын
Yes, everyone needs to have employment! BUT before you can secure that job you have to go in with the Right Spirit. You have to be OPEN and RECEPTIVE to learn. I have see many of the younger youth walk around with a snarl on their faces with a mean attitude instead of having a smile and an attitude of gratitude. You got to wake up thanking God that you are alive. Some of our youth, have a Narcissistic, Aggressive Spirit. Remember, You are what you consume through your ears, eyes, and mouth. You become what you consume the most. If your dominate focus is on listening to Gangster rap music and violent video games...your spirit will reflect that. Go have some clean fun like skating. Skating and dancing can bring you joy and laughter. Replace the negativity emotions with positive emotions and you will feel better and then go look for that job! You will feel more energized and less defeated. You will have a smile on your face and have a pleasant spirit to meet the HR guy.

In God's eyes,yes we are. From a cultural stand point....not so much. The whole manifest destiny thing....and annihilation of hundreds of thousands of people over centuries ...and the current state of race relations in this country just leaves me with a different opinion. But, it's just that...an opinion boarding on belief through evidence that speaks for itself.

There used to be swimming pools everywhere here in the 70s and 80s. Our small town had so many things that are gone now. Skating, pools, pool halls, skating, drive in movie, movie theater, bowling, and everyone was hanging out in parking lots everywhere. I know some places still have this stuff, but it was everywhere then. We were not divided like we are now.

United Skates of America was one of the best documentaries I've ever seen. As an ignorant white girl in the suburbs I never knew how important roller rinks were to the Black community. I was so very sad to see how thousands of rinks have been systematically shut down all over the country to serve the interests of our common enemy: the corportocracy. We need a movement to bring roller rinks back!

It's not over... The human body is amazing. Skating you already know keeps you fit and fucking happy as hell. When we get older people have "old age" bullshit issues due to not being ACTIVE. IF you stay active you can stay fit as hell for a very long time, 60,70, 80 years old even. you will move, be coordinated and strong, you wont' look like a teen or a 20 years old, but you will look fit and in shape and be strong. You won't be clumsy and goofy and stumbling because you gave up on living like many have.

@@cb142 Happy Thanksgiving CB! I'm with you, I grew up in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood by the Lake. At that time it was a melting pot of races. Vietnamese, Cubans, Puerto Ricans, Blacks, Mexicans of which I'm one, White's and I'm so glad I rubbed elbows with everyone, that's how I grew up. Nowadays I'm a young 60 I live with my son who is 24 his girlfriend is white and we're in Kansas in an all black apartment complex. We're very comfortable here, our neighbors look out for each other, and we have never had a problem! I'm so glad that I brought up my son without the prejudice and hatred. We disagre e with either side trying to use race to sow hatred and division. We live our Lord Jesus Christ creator of us all! And it seems the Lord loves variety and we see His handywork as wonderful. God bless you CB with good health and peace. Thank you for communicating!

This was a time when my knees were agile. I used them. I skated. We had a skating rink in the Bronx and everyone came and skated, and had fun. I skated in the streets, rode the bike and was so into moving. This was a great time. Used my youth well. Love this music. Children enjoy your youth by moving your body in fun like these folks are.

My brother was the guitarist on the studio recorded version. And when he told me that this song was getting a lot of play, I didn’t believe it was him😂 He did not join the band but went into a technical field. 😅
