Welcome to Sparkles Atlanta Sunday Nights! One of the livest Adult skate nights around the country. The regularly held Sunday night skate session is located at Sparkles Smyrna Family Fun Center in Atlanta, Ga. The session features a mixture of different skate styles ranging from JB and snap to house and more. It took a lot of energy keeping up with these amazing skaters all night on a regular basis so if you're reading this make sure to hit the subscribe button for me.

People here sometimes call it jamz skating. Amazing right? I first saw it kick up popularity in the early 2000s where I'm from. That's the space coast of Central Florida and it's been around for years. I look at these people and wish so badly that I could do it but I'm not confident enough.

@@tiffanyvanlengen4393this style of skating has been popular since the early 70’s with disco and funk music. Taking dance moves to the skating rink. Roll bounce a movie staring Bow Wow ( rapper) capture the mood of the 70’s roller skating. Also “ATL” the movie starring Ti ( rapper) captured the mood of Atlanta early 2000s on the skating rink. I encourage you to check them out and also have confidence in having fun while learning because that’s the main thing. You don’t have to be the best out there or even be good. You have to start somewhere and yes you will fall and crash into other people .. a lot, but we all know that is part of learning and getting better at finding your own style. We will help you up and push you forward ❤

This was a big deal on the weekends in the late 60’s and 70’s when I was a kid. Had a big sister who could skate dance and it was wonderful to watch. She used to take her kids and all her nieces and nephews almost every Sunday afternoon in the mid-80’s - 90’s. They loved it!

I used to roller skate as a kid in the 80s. But it wasn't the cool thing to do so most rinks went out of business. These awesome skaters make it look so much cooler than I could have imagined. Love it. ❤️

That must have been PRO’S only night because everyone on that floor had been skating for a very long time! They weren't any feeble, knee-wiggling, falling down folks in that place. Also, the kind of place that you learn those moves at home in the street and then bring it there. Things sure have changed since I danced on skates. Super talented group of people!!

I went to Golden Glide a few times in Atlanta back when I was in highschool (late 90s). It was bonkers. There would be these different groups that had whole ROUTINES to songs. People knew to just clear room and let them work. I will always remember this team that was two twin brothers probably in their late teens and they had matching gear and white gloves. Tore the place down every time.

This skating looks so much more fun than the ice skating lessons I had. These people are free and loose unlike all the techniques I learned of getting "air" ( jumping high), etc. Also, keeping my feet in certain positions which strained my legs and ankles making them sore a lot of times.

Absolutely amazing! I haven’t been on roller skates (if that’s what they’re still called) since the early 80’s, but I would definitely buy a pair and head down to the roller rink on Saturday night if they had anything like this where I live. I’ve done something similar to this outside in the freezing cold on ice skates, but inside, casually dressed, with good music, that’s where it’s at!
