That coyote was dining on what ever the "road kill cafe" offered most likely. Nice reminder that the desert gets cold and windy at times.

You should go up there in the Henry mountains and check out the Bison herd sometime...plus tbe views are absolutely stunning looking out over Capitol Reef back towards Escalante Grand Staircase..

My scary desert story: 2015. I was in the SW USA enjoying nice weather in the desert. I pulled up to a nice spot to hike and have a snack. Beautiful weather, nice breeze, no one around for miles and miles yet I could clearly hear about 15 or 20 large trucks, like dump trucks and large back hoes struggling with heavy weight, beep beep of trucks backing up but there was nothing around for miles and miles. I drove around to see if I was missing some major construction but nothing, no cars, no trucks nothing but desert. I went back to the spot and there it was again, logs of machinery at work, dump trucks dumping and bouncing the bin like to get all the dirt out, loud. I got on my hands and knees and found the digging was coming from under me, under ground. As I stood up, I saw before me two big white trucks with black windows facing me, shiny like right off the show room clean, no dust on them. I got a bit nervous and turned around to drive off and saw two more of the same trucks behind me, they just appeared out of nowhere. Now I was scared. Got in my truck and drove off. It was a decent drive to the main road and I kept looking behind me, they weren't following me. When I finally got to the main road there were two more trucks just like the others, bright white, like right off the show room floor, all windows were tinted totally black. I got on the road and they took off after me. One right on my bumper and the other trying to pass me. I was going 90 miles an hour swerving two lanes, when I'd block the truck passing me the one behind me tried to take me over. This went on for about 10 minutes when I saw a store off an exit and I took that exit. The two trucks slowed down and did a U turn and returned. Why did they wait for me to get to a main road, they could have wiped me out in the desert and no one would find me. I was sure they'd come finish me off but I had no other contact since. I'm thinking they wanted to scare me and they did. I've never even gone close to that location in the 7 years since then. SOMETHING is being built underground by someone very powerful. A few years later I saw a video of some Van Folks going to Area 51 in Nevada. They crossed the line and were approached by security in big white trucks, just like the ones that chased me. Did I stumble on Area 51 1/2? Those trucks literally came out of nowhere, they didn't have a speck of dust on them. Crazy.

Have a new appreciation for south central Utah. What a magical place you depict through your vids. Can't wait to see it first hand soon I hope. I am sure your camera equipment gives you an edge as well. Do you use a gimble with your Canon point and shoot SX730HS or some extra stabilization ? Love that it has such telescoping ability. Keep up the great work. Look forward to your new vids off the beaten track! Congrats to you and your new wife and your pending move to CO.

I liked the campground overlooking the state park. The views are incredible. The coyote was cool. Overall the solitude. On the cold days you should build a fire when people leave wood around the fire rings. It will help you keep warm and will also lift up your spirits at night. So i have been told.
@SUVRVing6 жыл бұрын
Nah, I don't really like campfires. I really, really dislike smelling like smoke when I'm trying to sleep. I think I've made two fires in the last few years of camping.
@jeffreywhitaker51546 жыл бұрын
SUV RVing I agree. Im the SAME way. Dislike the smoke smell. Especially when sleeping. Even a shower doesn’t get it all off.

Presumably the water source of the waterfall is mountain runoff, or would it be spring fed? It would be interesting to set up a time lapse camera along the steam, dusk thru dawn, to see nocturnal wildlife using it. Beautiful region. Thanks for sharing.
@SUVRVing6 жыл бұрын
I think the creek runs to some extent year-round, so there must be springs somewhere upstream. But I think most of it at this time of year was probably snowmelt. And I agree, it would be interesting to see what wildlife appears at night. Thanks Glen!
