Most people are very confused about what it means to set a boundary.
When you set a boundary, you want to say no, and then follow it up with your own action.
Simply saying no and then threatening someone or telling them how they should behave is not a boundary.
You have to tell the person what you will do if they continue their behavior.
Here is the thing: most people are afraid to say no.
By not telling the truth you basically create a situation where boundary violations are very easy.
Standing up for yourself is also not setting a boundary. It usually comes from a place of exasperation or anger.
If you are willing to say no, you won't need to stand up for yourself.
