I love your channel, specially everytime you guys go to Baja congrats on the new build but as a "car guy" I have to ask, why not keep the old truck? (it's not even that old) asking because those 5.7's are bullet proof and for international travel it would be easier to find parts, the new Tundras are having serious engine issues, look into it before going south, congrats and good luck!!

If you slide the camper +-12” back on the flatbed you would have plenty of room for a spare tire, extra fuel, and trash. It would also give you more truck roof space for the air deflection to increase your fuel mileage.

Joleeeeeeeeen! cant wait to follow your adventures!! Question on your power system. I have a similar build but deleted all Propane. I'm guessing you powered up your AC outlets with your Inverter? I have, but found connecting to my 4wc shore power with an inverter switch feeds back into my manager 30. No big deal, i just flip the 4wc Converter switch and all is fine...I think KP runs a dedicated line from inverter to outlets but then if im on shore power I cant run my ac outlets from there, only the inverter (which would be fine) I just didn't want to run dedicated lines and reroute my shore power. what did you guys come up with around this? I also went with a 4000 redarc inverter as well because when i deleted the propane and went with petrol heating and hot water (timberline system) there was sooooo much room for more stuff! I run the heater off a spare tire 30+ gallon secondary fuel tank, and hang the spare tire off a westcott bolted to the back of the tray.

Did you look into a diesel, you would see much better mileage. 11 mpg is rough!
@rkm2374 ай бұрын
Whoa, unless you are driving over 75 that 11mpg sounds way too thirsty. Does it have enough miles on it to make sure the break-in is done? Did it come with special break-in motor oil (that you aren't supposed to change early) that you accidentally changed early? I would expect 13 to 14mpg and you are using 20% more than that. Does that measurement only count for a short distance that included idling, offroad or uphill? Just curious but what did your last Tundra average which had similar weight and aerodynamics?
@sandyradsek20584 ай бұрын
What’s a rig like that cost? Also, looks like you could slide the box back almost a foot on the flatbed and had the opportunity for a pass through storage box behind the headache rack.

@BMoris954 ай бұрын
The truck build looks great. I'm wondering why you went with a completely new truck? Why not just put a new flatbed, camper, and power system on the old truck? A main priority is reliability and the old Tundra had that in spades. The new one not so much. It's much more complex and has a questionable engine. Look up all the problems people are having with the new twin-turbo. Some people are on their second or even third engines. This hasn't just happened in the first two years of the truck it's happened on 2024 trucks as well.
