One thing I like about Bounty Hunter as a frontliner is that he's decently shuffleproof despite not having any move skills. With his main attacks working in row 3 you don't have to worry about something like spearfishing wasting his turn because someone else was pulled up.

I knew that the bounty had good diversity in skills, but I did not realize how good! He is certainly a solid choice in most compositions.

Regarding the MAA comment, I meant they both share the ability of having a slightly larger attack row diversity than some of the other melee individuals It came out kind of weird, but that was my point that they offer different versatility in their skills. Time stamps are below: Collect Bounty: 2:25 Mark for Death: 3:55 Come Hither 5:05 Uppercut 7:00 Flash Bang 8:25 Finish Him: 9:30 Caltrops 10:40 Trinkets 13:45 Camping 16:50

Awesome video! I love the bounty hunter he is the swiss army knife of DD. He is really good at crits with just trinkets alone but pair him with a jester and crits everywhere! And he can be good support for a leper because of the pulling. Two thumbs up :)

Fun fact : according to its comic, the bounty hunter is not a 'true' bounty hunter, more like an inversion of this job. He is after bounties that the mob put on his head, not the other way around. It's debatable, though, depending of your interpretation of this character comic ;).
@HiDdeNSQuiDZGaming3 жыл бұрын

@@HiDdeNSQuiDZGaming Yes, it is quite an astute inversion of the bounty hunter trope actually ^^.

I would say that overall the Bounty Hunter is one of my least favorite classes. He ends up being a specialist class that has excellent utility in particular situations but otherwise is overshadowed by classes that are more versatile. The problems with the Bounty Hunter are numerous. a) His primary attack is very good indeed, but it only hits the first two ranks. This means that while the Bounty Hunter can sit in position 3 but will always still be primarily targeting position 1-2 anyway. He doesn't have the ability to project significant damage to ranks 3-4, and so if you are putting him in position 3 then you are essentially bringing 3 front rankers. It's possible to do something odd like run Helion and rank 2 Hound Master to ensure you have front rankers that can project damage to the back ranks, but that's a pretty narrow party composition and you'd have more shuffle resistance if you switched the Bounty Hunter and the Hound Master anyway. So in short, he ends up being very much a position 1-2 character if in the damage role. And that can be a problem, because he's just not as durable as an other front ranker. His dodge isn't great, and his hit points are less than the Leper, Helion, and Crusader. Worse, he also doesn't have a self-heal or a tank-y self buff so you have a character whose offense forces him toward a rank 1 tank position, but whose defense can't back that up. So that means you tend to want to run him in position 2, but then if you do you're running 2 characters that can only hit rank 1-2, and there are relatively few times you want to do that. This means he's pretty good in the Swine God and Drowned Crew fight and really, hardly any other time - including facing trash mobs. He can also be pretty good versus Wulf, not the least because he hits hard in the lead up to that fight. b) He's really only a primary damage dealer. Unlike the Houndmaster or the Crusader or the Leper, he is offering very little utility. He can't buff the party. He can't heal the party. He can't guard the party. He can't destress the party. His primary utility comes from debuffing the enemy in various ways, but it turns out only his mark ability that reduces prot is an important debuff. Too many of his 'debuffs' are shuffles. The main problem is that with a well constructed party, shuffling the enemy monster party not only isn't important, it can be downright problematic. It turns out that very few monster enemies are negatively impacted by being shuffled, and they almost all have moves that allow them to cheaply fix their positioning while still applying pressure to your party. The monsters deshuffle themselves very efficiently with very few wasted turns. Relying on shuffling the monsters turns out to be a high risk low reward strategy in that the monsters aren't negatively impacted by much, and so many things can happen that ruin the strategy - they can resist, they can deshuffle themselves, they can be shuffled into places that your own party can't take advantage of. A typical problem might be using his best shuffle - 'come hither' - to pull someone forward. Supposing that succeeds, you can have a problem that your next move is a ranged attacker that would have preferred the marked target stay in the back ranks. An arbalest can't hit the mark if it moves to rank 1, a grave robber can only lunge, and a back rank occultist is likely only to have good damage dealing against a back rank as well. In the worst case, you can shuffle the target forward, ruin a shot by the arbalest, have the enemy then make moves, and before you can use the bounty hunter again, the mark is back in rank 3. Yes, you could set up another front ranker like the leper, but now you have too many front rankers in the party and to get that to work the shuffle had to make the hit roll and not get dodged and the target had to fail its move resist and the leper had to go before the target moved out of range. It's just not reliable compared to having a damage dealer like the hound master that can project to the back ranks. So unlike the Occultist or the Man-At-Arms, he just isn't worthwhile as a position 3-4 primary utility class. So again, his skills push you toward having him primarily as a rank 1-2 front liner, either in position 2 paired with a Helion so as to still be able to project damage to the back ranks, or in position 1 as the tank. And, he's too squishy to be a great tank. c) His stuns get messed up in the same ways. While he looks on paper like he'd be a decent secondary stunner, in practice his stuns aren't that useful. Uppercut would actually be better if it didn't push 2, since it could then synergize more easily with 'finish him'. But even if it didn't, the circumstances where you can actually stun someone and then hit them again before they move and end the stun are fairly rare. So he turns out to just have inferior stuns to the Houndmaster or the Vestal and really even in terms of party synergy the Crusader. Most of the time when you are stunning, you don't want to push the back ranks forward because you have other party members planning to hit those back ranks while you are delaying the front ranks. The crusader is really good at tanking the front ranks while the rest of the party deals with the high damage/high stress back ranks. The Bounty Hunter actually by shuffling messes this up a bit. And not only does his flashbang have the same problem it doesn't even do damage. So, he's actually a bad enough stunner that it's not worth it to take stuns at the expense of maximizing his damage dealing. And conceptually, finish him has a problem in that often you don't want to immediately kill a stunner target because you are trying to stretch the fight out for a round or two so as to get an extra heal or stress heal in. So if he's only a primary damage dealer, then he's competing with the Highwayman or the Graverobber. The Highwayman his harder and more consistently and without the need for set up, and the Graverobber projects damage against back ranks. So basically you have a primary damage dealer who needs to be hitting marked targets and/or humans to be competitive, which means you are only running him when a high percentage of targets are human or in a party with marking synergy (and preferably both). He does have probably the best mark in the game because minus prot tends to matter more than minus dodge in that there are more enemies with high prot than high dodge and using a mark on a dodger and then trying to hit them is rarely more efficient than just trying to hit them twice, and as such he's a very tempting choice in a mark synergy party but I often find even then I end up taking the Occulist over him just because the Occulist has dodge and prot debuffs, and can act as a healer.

I agree the bounty hunter is an odd one to use and on paper he looks amazing. I have used him a few times to great success typically via the come hither and I do like uppercut for certain enemies. Using him as a main damage dealer can feel a little gimmicky and situational for sure. I really like him in the Mark and Bark party though (Bounty Hunter, MAA, Occultist, Houndmaster).
