Yeah, it's never outright stated but most of them are there on a contract. So they are paid an amount/given room and board, we just never see it and it's done outside of our own wealth.

We couldnt’ve found it in the dungeon, since its only accquired after the quest is complete, so where’s it from? Does the caretaker pay for the expeditions? Do the people of the Hamlet pay a tax for those de facto protection efforts? Are the mercenaries pillaging a bit off-screen? Is it just a gamplay mechanic without any story/lore significance? Prolly

I think it's worth mentioning that a significant number of the Bounty Hunter's lines have references to gambling, or at least games of chance. It wouldn't be out of the question for his fascination with payment to stem from being left for dead after a successful night gambling, with the gambling dens controlled by crime lords, and instead electing to extract his payment in revenge.

Honestly the most objectionable part of this video is the one that you speak about with the most confidence; I find it unlikely that the Bounty Hunter sticks around for mere money alone. Perhaps it drew him here, and it most definitely keeps him here, but I find it more likely he constantly raves about his fair share when afflicted because it's the only reason he can justify staying around in the dump as opposed to getting back to the actual hunt, the solo hunt, the personal and human hunt. He craves his money as means to reassure himself that his presence is better here than elsewhere.

a lot of people compare him to batman, i think he resembles Rorschach from watchmen more than anything. leaves calling cards, kills people, man of very few words, far more cynical, far less altruistic, not at all heroic, probably a shorter dude.

I've thought about doing Mod Classes but the issue is making sure the mod owners are cool with it. I'd also need to basically interview with them to understand what exactly certain phrases mean. Since with Vanilla Heroes I have to guess, theorize, and connect the dots. But the mod characters I can just ask the creator what they were going for.
