When I was a kid my family couldn't afford playset etc. My sister and I had to save pocket money for weeks on end just to buy one Star Wars figure! Many a time, an upturned cardboard box with a little bit of colouring, some smaller item boxes, margarine tubs, yoghurt or dessert pots, various other bits and bobs and tons of imagination would substitute Jabba's palace, Yavin base, the Death Star, Hoth, the Great Pit of Carkoon and loads of other Star Wars locations. Your simple, cheap but effective dioramas very much put me in mind of those wonderful days and just what can be achieved with some scraps and a drop of imagination. No need for over-priced bits of plastic that don't get the job done (Hasbro, I'm lookin' at you!) May the Force be with you.

I do believe it was Admiral Piett that was looking up at Bossk's reptillian feet. He says with contempt "Bounty hunters, we don't need their scum."
@samanthaadams61910 жыл бұрын
Was thinking of that line, as well. ^_^ And I think you're right about it being Piett. Anywho, that was a really neat scene in the movie. "I want them alive - No disintegrations!"

Well this is an awesome setup, I love the way those decals worked and the blastdoor with that effect of depth looks great. I kinda like more these small diaromas, with a singe scene instead of a very large diorama that sometimes you can't appreciate it well. Nevertheless both kinf of dioramas look awesome!

Boy am I glad I clicked on this diorama BudgetJedi! Niub Niub's decal downloads will be extremely helpful in Project Boba especially the Death Star and Coruscant ones. That will save on hours of painting and waiting for it to dry. Too bad his KZbin channel is closed, and is he, by chance, the same guy on TheDioramaWorkshop? Great diorama as always man.

An awesome display and setup. One of the great scenes from the whole series. :-) If they made it today they would have computer graphic made most of them. Back then they actually made the costumes and that just makes the movie more real.

i've sometimes wondered if i could sell displays if i made them professional-looking. after all, my wife and i happen to own a trophy/screenprinting shop and we have a vinyl cutter not to mention a few professional-quality printers, so i have certain advantages in being able to make particularly nice looking backgrounds, i think. added to that, i have access to particular materials that might work out very well towards displays, e.g. beveled plexiglass at wholesale prices and business relationships with people who could cut custom pieces. that kind of thing. i look at the flooring of this display and i just want to cut out some shiny black metal out on my metal cutter and put it down with some double-sided tape! lol. well, anyway, if it's one thing i could add to anyone looking for something a bit more upscale, check out your local trophy shop and have them cut you out some flooring out of coated aluminum. bear in mind that it would be engraving metal, so it scratches relatively easily, but you could get around that without a problem if you found a shop that does sublimation, which you would have to gouge out to mar. that would be a bit more expensive, but the advantage would be that if you provided artwork you could get any design on the floor or wall you wanted. the thing is you could get something with a real shine on it and doesn't look like plastic or a cheaper substitute. the human eye is pretty good at detecting what's made out of what usually, and metal just has a certain gravitas, eh? lol. good job with the materials laying around, though. :)

as soon as you pointed out the death star trooper in the reference pic, i though of Dark Helmet Man! great stuff as always...and i think it would be neat if you did something with that gap between the backround and the platform piece...maybe stick some droids in there like a service/access hallway. but true you got your focus area and thats central to your distinctive style

Weren't there lower ranking imperial officers with those funny gray naval hats working the controls? I don't think Death Star Troopers manned the computer panels. They were just guards.

Nice setup indeed. You know where the card board areas that got bend and you can see the card board separator.. I know you use the black tapes to cover it but you can still see the card board in between. Perhaps it might be a good idea to use a black marker to color the card board separate/bend area. Or use your black tape again for the in between bend area. Everything else looks fantastic. :) good job!
