“South’s Gonna Do It Again”….The Very Best of CDB! Homage to Southern Rock Legends and Smokin’ Fiddle.
@markoehler27525 ай бұрын
Every time anyone reacts to Charlie, I make the same suggestion & no one ever does it, but it’s their loss. If you want to see what the master of the fiddle is really capable of, check out his song “talk to me fiddle”- only Charlie can combine six VERY different styles of fiddle music in one song and make it incredible. Keith’s head will explode-the musician in you will love it!

Love this. I saw the CDB opening for Alabama in the late '80s, this song was the show opener. The rest of the set, and the Alabama set that followed, was spent trying to live up to the energy of this tune.

That was Charlie Daniels playing the fiddle. I got the pleasure of seeing him in concert in ‘06. He put on a hell of a show! Irelene Mandrell (from the Mandell Sisters) was a guest drummer in that concert. They did a duel with drums and fiddle. I feel like Charlie won, but his bow was shredded. It was new when he started. Great experience.

Great song, great reaction and great appreciation of this song and all it encapsulates both lyrically, tempo wise and rhythm. The fiddle playing towards the end almost bordered on up tempo Cajun music in its construction. I think that may be the difference that you picked up on. Thanks guys, another banger to go on the playlist. Cheers 🤠🍻

One of the commenters said it has a Louisiana vibe. At one point (7:42) in the background you can hear an "Aaaaa - eeeeee". Yep! That's Cajun! When you hear that yell, you know you have a Cajun musician somewhere in the mix. And it's that Cajun beat that makes you want to move. (Watch Twist and Shout by Mary Chapin Carpenter. She mentions the band Beausoleil. And the fiddler in the video is from Beausoleil.)

As soon as it starts, I'm transported back many years to a dive bar in my hometown, after a long hot day of watching a softball tournament, playing this on the jukebox. The only other memory of that day is selling my pink straw hat to a drunk old guy at the bar as the song ended. Also - if you haven't reacted to it yet, Pour Me by One Trick Pony is also a feel-good dancing tune.

I've heard this song a time or two before, but as I listen to it now, it gives me almost a zydeco vibe. Throw in a washboard and a squeeze box and that may sell that vibe. Feels like it would fit in, I don't know, a boat chase seen on the bayou. haha And how you described the different flavors of the bourbon, it would have been if Willy Wonka went into distilling instead of candy making. haha
