I really liked my Beam House Batch when I opened it. Even my friends though it was one of the better bottles we had a the table at a share night. I had some the other night after having it open for about 4 months and it got super nutty. It's still good, but not as good as it was fresh popped.

I skipped the GTG series the first time I saw it for retail because it looked gimmicky. Tried them at a bar and realized the rye is actually phenomenal. The wheater was also pretty decent. Bought the rye the next time I saw it and haven't regretted it in the slightest. Overall very surprised by a series that looked entirely like tater bait.

My TW has a Chestnut Farms Single Barrel for $250. Most ridiculously priced thing I've ever seen. I'd pay for evey bottle in this video before that one.
@Wm_Gemmell3 ай бұрын
Some open thoughts. I agree on the Heaven Hill pricing. For the specialty product that it is, although mass-produced, shouldn't be more than $75. I think of other distilleries (mostly Scottish) that have done the same sort of project. There are costs involved in what they're doing, including the glass, but it's mostly in the supply chain and production. $100 is too much. This leads me to today's pricing structures in general. We will continue to see higher pricing for a while. Distilleries and wholesale alike are taking what they can get right now, especially given demand. Bottom line is, people are buying it. It will continue to be priced at what people are willing to pay. That being said, there is a glut of whiskey. It will shine it's head. Not only in young barrels but barrels coming of quite some age as well. All of the expansions and increases in production in the late 2000s and on is leading to the stocks the market has now. Couple this with calming demand and we should start to see prices start to calm as well (a bit), but excitingly, we should continue to see some awesome and well-aged releases.

I should have stuck with my initial hunch that the HH Grain to Glass options were a marketing gimmick. I heard a podcaster talk about the Wheated being the best, rye second, Bourbon meh. I bought the rye and thought it was meh.
@tonyjennings37023 ай бұрын
Personally agree. I like the wheated a lot. The rye second. The bourbon is the worst of the bunch. They’re all decent, but the wheated is more complex even though it drinks calmer than its proof.

Gluten allergy shouldn’t preclude you from drinking distilled spirits unless they are finished in beer barrels or something like that as all gluten protein is removed during distillation.

For years you guys have said, "I would pay $$$$$$$ for this, I would pay $$$$$$$$ for that. If this was $50 or $75 more I would still pay it". I watched and wondered, WHY? Why are you on the tube doing that? Well, that shit has come home to roost. I (and I am sure many others) feared this would happen. Here you are today, complaining about a problem to which you contributed. Had you remained sensible about your opinions on pricing throughout, you would have a solid leg to stand on when addressing the issue we see today.

Maybe some things are worth more money and maybe some things aren’t. This video is highlighting the bottles not worth the $. Also hard to rail on them for pricing considering they opened up a distillery pricing bottles under market value on similar style bottles because pricing has gotten out of control
