Eddie had some strong opinions on this bottle, but said he couldn’t stop marketing from making the change. I went and bought the turkey feather bottle just because I liked it so much, using it as my infinity bottle now. The juice inside was good, but not really worth the price point in my opinion. I honestly enjoy the regular 101 more.

I struggle with Kentucky Spirit as well. Can’t justify the price when a Russel’s Reserve Store pick costs the same and offers so much more flavors typically.

0805 is fantastic. It drinks like an 86 proof. Yes, cherries, caramel taste with spices on the backside. Nose is sweet, vanilla, caramel cake. Easy to sip!

For $150 a bottle it’s a rip off. 101 is half the price and tastes a lot better to me.

I see just about everyone recommend WT 101 as the best value bourbon around. I've had 101 and Rare Breed, but never Russell's Reserve. I find 101 to be underwhelming, and Rare Breed very easy to drink. Local store sells Rare Breed and (new bottling style) Kentucky Spirit for basically same price point of $45. Should I take a chance on Kentucky Spirit at that price, stick with Rare Breed, or try Russell's Reserve instead? Bonus question: is Russell's Reserve single barrel worth the price increase over the small batch?

I had this for the first time visiting my friend in Detroit, he got a bottle knowing I was flying out, I then bought one upon getting home, and his was a little sweeter a lot of vanilla in his than the one I got. The one I got has that nutty notes. But yeah it's a basic bourbon, but it tastes great to me. I was hoping to get a bottle of rare breed instead of this, but I'm glad I got this one, two different barrels. Anyway here just curious on what you guys thought of it!

$60 is too high. $45 would be the sweet spot for me. Old bottle design was for sure better, in my opinion. Gold sticker slapped on the front is pretty amateurish. The old glass stood out on the shelf and also looked like a “$60” bottle if you know what I mean ... Also, is “nutty” an off note for y’all? I hear you guys say that a lot and wonder if it’s something you don’t necessarily like?

I agree 100%, I know rare bird has some strong feelings about this bottle too! Nutty also isn't bad, but for me personally it's a very stand out flavor for whiskey. Depends on the flavors supporting it really, if something is only nutty it's not usually our favorite. However, sometimes you get something like old Ezra 7 and feel like you're eating peanut butter and wonder wth is going on.

The most pointless brand in their lineup now. Way too high of a price point for what you are getting. Either get 101 or Russel's SiB. They should have overhauled this brand and allowed for barrels that are anywhere from 9-15yrs like Knob had. Otherwise, make it 12-yr standard so it's different from the rest of their offerings.

Agreed, I love the 101 so when this bottle first came out I really dug it, ofcourse it was around $40-$45. Now even the big retailers who don’t mark up the bottles want $67-74 for it……… it’s not worth that price at all

A rebranding failure due to a lack of creativity. They could have made a fun-to-collect single barrel, but chose to play it safe, and underwhelmed. Let's face it, Blantons isn't impossible to find JUST because of the Bourbon.

Agreed, I stand by it that Kentucky Spirit and Blanton's are some basic bitch bourbon. Blanton's just has a cult following because of superior marketing.

Absolute crap bottle of bourbon and I love Rare Breed and Russell's Single Barrel. Turkey have a lot of guys putting this our at that price.

Might wanna re-watch it then. I know Dan rambled a bit, but what he said was Kentucky spirit was launched to compete against Blantons. We then compare it to Blanton's because ya k ow that's what it should be compared against. A $60 single barrel product with roughly the same age.
