Klasse. Great video and great build everyone!

But one (two) of the biggest clichés had to be shown and proven anyway! Oktoberfest and Lederhosen! 😄😄😄 I'm a German too and I totally agree with you! Germany has so much more to offer apart from Bratwurst, Sauerkraut, Haxen, Hendl, Lederhosen and Oktoberfest. I'm always a bit sad because it seems that we are a bit "reduced" to a kind of Bavarian style. Don't get me wrong, Bavaria is beautiful, but our other 15 states apart from Bavaria have also many beautiful things (people, cities, landscapes, food, festivals, fairs...) to offer. 🙂 Grüße an Chris nach "Aschebersch". Edit: Händl in Hendl korrigiert. 🙂

Actually, last time I was back in California doing some cabinet work with my bnrother for my sister, my brother (former army, 11B, red blooded as they come) confiscated my metric 8m tape and let me know that that was the only one he'd be using from now on (so mucher easier to calculated on base-10!!). Loved this video for 2 reasons. One was all the usual 'Bourbon Moth' banter. The other was on an emotional level. My maternal grandfather was German and a professional woodworker in KS. and OK. I never knew him as he died around the time of my birth. My mom would recount how, as a little girl, she would help him in the shop with small projects and sweeping up after him. (She would get misty telling these stories.) There are still a few of his pieces held by members of our large extended family. Though a totally different situation, I still felt some kind of connection. Thank you!

IMHO this episode was one of, if not the best. I really enjoyed the interaction between everyone. And getting a brief glimpse of German culture. Their hosts, Chris and Nicole were very friendly and welcoming to the Bourbon Moth crew. Giving them the red carpet treatment. And the piece of furniture that they built together was very nice. And hopefully Chris will send some photos of the finished piece to Bourbon Moth so we can all see how great it turned out.

Seeing that small shop made me a bit nostalgic. When I started over 40 yrs ago I would leave the backs off of larger commissions so I could step through. I also had the shop dimensions in the top corner of my client paperwork so we stayed in the work envelope. Good times? NO, but it built character. Great video guys. Your hosts did a great job of showing off their country and representing Germany to the world.

Can't sleep. sitting here are 0530 in the UK watching you enjoy German hospitality. I lived in Germany for several years, and like most ANglo-Saxons had no previous idea how dry and funny the German sense of humour is. Of course he was going to take you to get Lederhosen, especially if he had lined up Oktoberfest as well. Eight beers is impressive, as are the young ladies who carry 8 of those Steins at a time when serving tables. Despite the early hour, my mouth was salivating at the memory of the Schnitzels, it is again as I write about them. Btw the build was good too!!

Army brat that was born in Augsburg, lived there for the first couple years and ended up be stationed at Grafenwöhr when I was enlisted. Haven't been back in years and now I really want to go. The best part was getting 1 liter of German water, a hot pretzel at the end of a rough week and just sitting back to enjoy the moment. Love the project too. Hopefully Chris will update the Patreon with photos of the finished cabinet.

First time watcher. I like your idea with the patreons you visit and even tho you guys weren't able to finish the whole thing, I guess you had an amazing first time here in Germany and Chris did a fantastic job representing the country and showing you around. Those trips are probably more about the people rather then the project itself.

The last sentences in the end translated in English: "It's been a crazy week here in Germany, now I can speak German really well, I've also learned a lot about the culture and I have to tell you that this system with centimeters in millimeters and meters makes so much more sense than what we use over there, so thank you very much for watching us."

I’m sold. This is by far the best DIY video channel on woodshops. The only other video I’ve watched by these dudes is the attempt to make a cement planter, which turned out ok, but the planter itself was meh. Wish I had tools like they were using.

I wish I had more German content from German guys who are like him! Show us German carpenters who have something to offer from their old craft where every German carpenter has professional training. Show us these guys of a trade that you have to learn in Germany for 3 years. They are the true professionals because their work is so clean and of such quality that you will sweat and be amazed.

@@nordwestbeiwest1899 AFAIK marius is german - realy close from Mathias Wandel grow up bevor migrating to Canada. Somewere here on KZbin i read the term Carpenter-Capital of germany. Michael Truppe (lets Bastel) is also from that region - but he is a entertainer at best. Back to Marius. Im not sure if he already finished but he was/is studiing mechnical engeneering - he says so in his kitchen remodeling/trash bin pimping video. But that doesent stop him from doing "traditional" woodworking stuff. Quite elaborate for an "hobbiest" but something every german furniture-maker has learned and probably would hope for to do more often (instead of 'building' crap partical board kitchen cabinets).

Many years ago, I was stationed in Kaiserslautern with the US Air Force … There are so many great things to experience in Germany. I absolutely love my experiences there. I was very fortunate to spend a day at Oktoberfest in Munich with some local folks!!! It is among my favorite memories of my short time in Germany. I would do just about anything to back for a visit. Another great video by Craig and that other guy … what’s his name … Jason? :)
