But one (two) of the biggest clichés had to be shown and proven anyway! Oktoberfest and Lederhosen! 😄😄😄 I'm a German too and I totally agree with you! Germany has so much more to offer apart from Bratwurst, Sauerkraut, Haxen, Hendl, Lederhosen and Oktoberfest. I'm always a bit sad because it seems that we are a bit "reduced" to a kind of Bavarian style. Don't get me wrong, Bavaria is beautiful, but our other 15 states apart from Bavaria have also many beautiful things (people, cities, landscapes, food, festivals, fairs...) to offer. 🙂 Grüße an Chris nach "Aschebersch". I never knew him as he died around the time of my birth. My mom would recount how, as a little girl, she would help him in the shop with small projects and sweeping up after him. (She would get misty telling these stories.) There are still a few of his pieces held by members of our large extended family. Though a totally different situation, I still felt some kind of connection. Thank you!

@@nordwestbeiwest1899 AFAIK marius is german - realy close from Mathias Wandel grow up bevor migrating to Canada. Somewere here on KZbin i read the term Carpenter-Capital of germany. Michael Truppe (lets Bastel) is also from that region - but he is a entertainer at best. Back to Marius. Im not sure if he already finished but he was/is studiing mechnical engeneering - he says so in his kitchen remodeling/trash bin pimping video. But that doesent stop him from doing "traditional" woodworking stuff. Quite elaborate for an "hobbiest" but something every german furniture-maker has learned and probably would hope for to do more often (instead of 'building' crap partical board kitchen cabinets).

Great episode! Loved Chris and his wife Nicole. Great project! But the best part was Nicole - her cooking looked fantastic. Could she please post her recipes for Goulash and Schnitzel? This is a serious request Chris!

Loved the okie-dokie at the end! A favorite of Germans studying conversational English. Heard it from my German friend many times.

That's one of your best videos. I really hope Craig has recovered from the Beer Festival. And, Chris, we basically have the same set up by Hammer! So happy to see it!

Just stumbled upon this video. My mom is from A'burg and I still have relatives there I visit often. I was born and still live in Western Canada.

And for those of you who have small shops, make all of your countertops the same height as your table saw. It makes it very convenient when you run out of space.

I was stationed in Karlsruhe GE in the early 90s. I build my dining table with German White Oak. It has a distinctive scent. I also had to buy the lumber cut 8/4. Lots of milling.

Many years ago, I was stationed in Kaiserslautern with the US Air Force … There are so many great things to experience in Germany. I absolutely love my experiences there. I was very fortunate to spend a day at Oktoberfest in Munich with some local folks!!! It is among my favorite memories of my short time in Germany. I would do just about anything to back for a visit. Another great video by Craig and that other guy … what’s his name … Jason? :)

IT woodworking crowd! I'm finding quite a few of us have taken up this hobby. I think it's because it's difficult for us to see and touch the results of our labor. Woodworking is tangible.
