Heeeey! Idea - floating steps for the stairways? (If left wall can support it? metal frame for the hardwood step (not sure how do you call the surface where you are step on) with one piece of vertical (metal) rail support and single rail to join all supports on top or individual parts of the hand rail - but they may flex when you walk ? Anyway - this will look very airy and transparent and light - regardless of the metal you have to build it from :-)

I've worked on a number of homes that were getting pocket doors and not once did any come with a chunk cut out of it like that. The only way it came like that was if you asked for it when buying it. I'd change the color of the fireplace bricks. Everything white is not great to begin with but white there is just gonna be a hassle especially as the years go by and it gets stained from all the fires. Something darker and contrasting with literally everything else that's white will look so much better.

Love it! I'm going to enjoy ride, while you do the work. It's really coming along nicely, I like the exterior color and it really looks good with the pavers. I'm assuming there will be some contrast color in the interior. White is so bland and sterile, not very cozy. Painting the the fireplace brick really perked it up, that old brick was awful.

The place looks great. I don’t like the color tones but I do like the rock garden with waterfall.

This remodel is turning out to be more than a liter job, especially if it runs into next summer.

They do make space saving spiral staircases but that may be too narrow of an entry way. Of course, the kids will be the ones that usually stay upstairs so the tight clearance going up the stairs wouldn't really be an issue.
