You know what's so great about this ! I'm now in my 60's and watching your reaction to so many of these Quo songs is exactly how I felt the first time listening as a youngster and believe me the feeling doesn't wain, it probably gets stronger and more appreciative of good music from a real tight band without the BS. Critics will come and go but it's stood the test of time over many more famous bands. Huzzah Quo

Dog of two head is very early Quo boogie rock, fresh, authentic, like played in the garage with scuffed up jeans and broken plimsolls. Some of the songs like Umleitung snd Somethings going on in my head have a laid-back, transcendent, hypnotic feel and some are real rockers like Someone’s learning and Railroad. A brilliant and original album and great reflection of the atmosphere of the times. Love it.

A fantastic album track from the 1976, 'Blue For You', album, which was also the B-side for the, 'Rockin' All Over The World', single a year later. This really epitomises them on the top of their game, with the fast pace of the song, with just enough silence between the sections that make you beg for more. The middle build up and the solo leading out of the song are the cherries on this particular Quo cake. You have reacted to, 'Mystery Song', from this album, albeit the shortened single version. Which doesn't really do it justice, to be honest. 'Rain', is the obvious choice for another song to react to from this album. But, there's plenty of others from other albums that are waiting to be discovered, including:- Don't Waste My Time Break The Rules I Saw The Light Hold You Back Over The Edge Take Me Away

'Don't Waste My Time' opens their Piledriver album. It jumps out of your speakers and says "Hey listen to this, it'll change your life in a big positive way' I read an interview with The Anti-QUO where he said that after joining the Vertigo label they took all their Stage Equipment into the recording studio. I think they turned everything up to eleven and played LIVE in the studio on the Piledriver album and on most of their albums. Even on their IYCSTHeat album in 1978 you can hear them talking and calling out to each other. You can hear them talking and calling out to each other on most of their albums. 'Don't Waste My Time' puts a big grin on my face. It's a very sad, crying shame what Rossi did to destroy the best and greatest Band in history.

And sadly, every album after this documents their slow, terrible drift into schmaltz. First the drummer (Coghlan) was sacked, then the bassist (Lancaster) left and boom, their subsequent records became almost a vaudeville act. They were GREAT in their day though, no doubt about it, and great live too.
@roypalfrey5694Ай бұрын
I know where you're coming from. In hindsight the rather "pop-ish" nature of Rocking all over the world" might have marked the beginning of the end. I still bought their albums for a few years and still have a drum stick from Hammersmith Odeon (the 1+9+8+2 tour so Pete's stick not John's). The band naturally changed with the departure of John and Alan but I also think the vibe also suffered when the keyboards featured more prominently and altered the "crunch" of the guitars. When a band has a rhythm guitarist like Rick Parfitt, it seems such a waste to smother him in the mix. This all seems like I'm having a bit of a dig but honestly I was a big fan, bought their records, wore their t-shirts, saw them live and learned their songs (not 3 chords if you do them properly) but now looking back as someone in their mid 60s, I feel they were fresher back in the 70s......as was I!

Nice pick - what a great song. Too bad you'll neve get to see the original lineup anymore - I was lucky enough to see them live in New York City as the opening act for Peter Frampton in 1975.
