I caught a carp by hooking someone else’s line who was hooked in the Carps mouth. The carp took the fishing pole in the water and had been swimming around with it for quite a while and I ended up hooking the line and was like dang it man tangled up and I noticed the ripples in the water and started hand pulling the line in and got the carp and a new fishing rod haha.

Best way to deal with the flys. Keep the fire going and sit in the smoke. I spend a lot of time in the bush and it’s the only way I’ve found that works best. Yes you have smoke to deal with but give me smoke over flys anyday!

I know it wouldn't be very fitting for a primitive hunting/cooking video but I have been living in Qatar for the past 2 years and the flies get pretty bad in the desert certain times of the year. They sell these rechargeable like helicopter blade spinning things that you set on a table and they spin around and keep the flies off your food. Floppy blades so they don't like hurt if they hit you. I don't use them but watching this vid made me think they would be pretty helpful haha

I want to share this story because it's funny and you should get a laugh from it. I live in southwest Tennessee but I'm from Maine and if you're familiar with Maine, that's where L.L. BEAN the outdoors outfitter and wildlife sporting goods store is from in Freeport Maine. They're open 365 days 24-7 and my wife is from here in Southwestern Tennessee. I took her to the store and my cousin wanted to get FLY fishing materials because he ties flies and sells them at local outdoorsman stores around Maine, my wife (Bless her Southern Heart) asked my cousin what kind of flies is he trying to catch and why does he use such a large pole to catch a little insect. I stood there for a good minute looking at her like a curious dog with my head cocked to the side thinking to myself did I hear what I thought I did?? everyone and I mean EVERYONE within hear8ng distance stopped in their tracks looking at her and I asked her to repeat her question and when she did my cousin and I and the couple we didn't even know embraced each other and were laughing so hard we were all red faced and crying. My poor wife was like what's so funny I'm serious lmbo!!! I couldn't talk I was laughing so hard, the wonderful L.L. BEAN employee said aw sweetie Bless your heart and explained the lures are called flies that's what the fish bite. We all looked like we just lost the love of our lives because our faces were all red from laughing and tears from laughing so hard were flowing from Niagara Falls. That was 5 years ago last month. When I'm feeling down even to this day my loving wife will remind me of that day. She even made friends from the couple that was by us, they bought my wife some bacon jam and astronauts ice cream for making them laugh so hard. Have a Blessed Day everyone and Happy New Year!
