About 20 years ago I was fortunate to see Bow Wow Wow perform and even better got to go backstage and meet Annabel before the show and after what turned out to be one of the best concerts I've seen my entire life got to go backstage again and hang out with the band for 15 minutes more. Great people, can't say enough good things about them.

Did you meet the rest of the band as well? Their drummer was with Adam and the Ants before Bow Wow Wow was formed and later joined Republica in the mid 90's. He looked very different in Republica as he had bleached his hair.

I quite fancy the drummer now (later was the drummer for Republica) and even though I was aware of Bow Wow Wow and Annabel in particular at the time I didn't look at the rest of the band. Probably because I didn't have a TV set of my own then and there was no living room where I lived. I didn't read teen magazines and music magazines then. Now I wish I had gone to see them and met them.

Unfortunately I didn't own a TV at the time and there was no living room with a shared TV set in it where I was living then so I didn't see this on TV only heard it on the radio. I remember singing this and doing a little jig in the warehouse at work and one manager came up to me and jokily saying "No dancing in the warehouse." So I started to imagine the bosses at work dancing to this at a workplace party in the canteen while the warehouse workers and office staff sat around watching while clapping and cheering.

I agree - in the very early 80s yes - when a lot of chart music had a typically British, post-punk craziness about it. For me, the mid 1980s turned into a nightmare of transatlantic, suit-wearing gits trying to crack America and MTV by making utterly bland music.

@union3109 There were concerns about Michael Jackson overdoing it with the plastic surgery. His older brothers looked better than he did after a few operations as they had no work done. If he stopped keeping up with the face lifts his face would sag a lot worse than with someone in later life who never had a face lift. I thought Michael Jackson's surgeries would have served as a lesson to us all, but apparently not.

@@mattierara He was very much a Svengali manager among a long line of them in the 60's and 70's as well including Sharon Osbornes' father. John Lydon absolutely hated him and was reluctant to join the Sex Pistols because of him. He stood up to McLaren, refused to be controlled by him and eventually was sidelined and thrown out of the band which led to the band breaking up after just one album. Lydon ended up being put into the same hotel as the roadies instead of the rest of the band to get him to leave. It turned out that Lydon was recruited by mistake by McLaren through somebody else who was supposed to ask Sid Vicious to join but that person got the wrong John. Sid Vicious's real name was also John. So McLaren got rid of Glen Matlock in order to replace him with Sid Vicious. By then Glen Matlock could play bass reasonably well but Sid Vicious couldn't. McLaren wanted Sid Vicious in the band because he was more easily manipulated. John Lydon did too as they were close friends and Sid was a heroin addict. Lydon thought that being in the band meant that he could keep a closer eye on him and get him off the heroin but that never happened.

Exactly. Less manufactured as well though McLaren was a Svengali manager. Better singer. No autotune used.

Bow Wow Wee, I was 12 nearly 13 and loved her stuff. This song is the best and gives me confidence when I love dealing with African Artists without European Degrees but are Superior in every way....Snakes in the grass is all too true. Thanks X P.S. Ari Up sends her love.....Of course I know she is DEAD, but she would love your energy...she was never mean like Patti Smith...at the Chelsea Hotel.
