Thanks for great video! Really appreciated for the effort. My question is how to meter the object when adding one light to another? Do I need to make adjustment after each additional light because my object become brighter? Thanks for answering.
@JakeHicksPhotography
@JakeHicksPhotography 8 жыл бұрын
+apo tessar heya Apo its very dependent on the look you are going for and the size of the softbox behind but yes as soon as you add another light you will either need to adjust your camera or to compensate or turn the initial light down. Of course this is easily ascertained if you meter the subject afterwards. Hope this helps :)

Hi. I was wondering about the ratio between the softbox and the maxilite reflector... Could you tell us a bit about it? Thanks in advance.
@bowenstv
@bowenstv 8 жыл бұрын
+Edwin A. Hernández-Caraballo Hi Edwin, the softbox is twice as bright as the Maxilite. The ratio of softbox to Maxilite is 2:1.

@Marckymarc71 8 жыл бұрын
+bowenstv I don't think that's correct. Jake said the softbox was 1 stop more power, but that doesn't mean it was 1 stop more in actual exposure--in fact, looking at the model it's obvious it's still about a 1:1 ratio. A grid spot will not meter the same exposure as a large softbox at the same output.

@@Marckymarc71 I'm totally agree with you, Marc. In fact this is the key for this tutorial and I think it should be more clear about the final exposure for each of this two lights. Would you be so kind to help us, BowensTV?

I've repeated several times that moments and I think, even the English is not my native language, I understand something like this: "... by the time reaches the model is actually little bit less (5:40)". Case closed :)

what is the aperture, light metre reading of everything etc. isnt that important?
@bowenstv
@bowenstv 8 жыл бұрын
+Jim Johnson Hi Jim. What aperture you would use depends on a number of things such as the model's hair, clothing, skin tone etc. At 5:30 Jake mentions how the softbox is twice the power of the hard light in front. He uses this as a basis to set the other lights accordingly.
