Got my wife the PX7 S2e in green (her favorite color) for her birthday last June. Then I got myself the PX8 just last month which was on sale. 😍 We are both loving our B&W! ❤❤

I've tested both the Px7s2e and the Px8 and while they are both excellent headphones, they are in fact significantly different. The Px7s2e is more neutral, the px8 is a little more boomy in the low end. I ended up buying the px8. Ive also tested the B&O headphones (both hx and p95) and the sennheiser monentums, both of which i found quite dull sounding. Beautifully neutral, but not exiciting enough for my ears. All in all: i fully recommend to just go listen in a store, because audio is really most of all a matter of preference. Note: I didnt have a chance to test the focal bathys, so im not sure how they are sounding in comparison.
@kendrick67403 ай бұрын
Between the Px7/8 and the B&O headphones which would you go for for someone who prefers a more neutral sound (I listen to Jazz and Classical more than bass-heavy genres)? I've got the B&O H9, was originally thinking of updating to the B&O H100 but apparently they'll be nearly double the price of the H95, which is far more than I'm willing to pay for, so I'm considering switching headphone brands entirely and B&W has the kind of style that I like.
@thomaskooiman98123 ай бұрын
Hi! If you want something more neutral, B&W is probably not your best pick. Youd do best sticking to B&O or make the switch to sennheiser. Im just one opinion tho and definitely not an expert.

One problem I have with my new Px7 S2e's is that when my finger touches or slightly strokes (on both left and right sides), there is a kind of "echoing scratching" noise. (You can even hear it when you hold them in your hands). The position is on the inner side of the outer cup, This is approx, leading from the "swivel" down to approx. 1cm (the height of the bluetooth on/off switch). I sent them in for repair as it is somewhat annoying and I was sent back an apparently "new pair" of HP. Is doesn't seem to have changed. As I said, this occurs on both sides. I never had this on any other HF, and I own 3 pairs. 2x Sony and I pair Bose, Is this normal? Or am I being a little too sensitive? Does anyone else have this small problem? Apart from this they are excellent.

Terrific review, thank you! I loved the feel of the PX-8 but, unlike you, could not hear any real difference in the sound between the two. Got my PX-7S2e on sale for just over $300 USD less and that made up my mind. I'm listening to your review with these on. Again, terrific review, covered all the bases without bias.

The thing about the Px8, though I’d totally buy them if I could, I see photo after photo of the “more durable” headband splitting along that nappa leather. Seems criminal for $699 headphones. I have the Px7 S2es and will def pick up the Px8s and take a chance on that design flaw at their recertified price of $399.

@@googlejeffersonI have the px7 s2. They sound significantly better than the AirPods Max, the separation of instruments and voices is magical. I also have bigger ears and found the max too small on my ears. I would recommend the px7 s2 and I imagine the s2e or the px8 are better. They also have way better low end. Even though the AirPods are ranked higher in noise cancelling, I find that they let in a lot of noise that they try to cancel.

I currently own the B&W PX7 and the Sony XM5. In terms of sound quality, I feel the PX7 is superior. In fact, they even sound better when connected via Bluetooth than with a cable. Since I’m not too concerned about functionality or noise cancellation, the B&W is the better choice for me. Given this, do you think I should upgrade to the PX8, or is there a better option available in that price range?

Thanks for this quality review! How do they perform when connected with usb-c, do they use the same internal DSP? And using that usb-c cable, what would be the best way to connect them to an older iPhone (with that old lightning output...)? Thanks!
@AVHifiCinema8 ай бұрын
Thanks for your positive feedback - they perform really well when connected via usb-c - wired listening allows you to escape the limitations of bluetooth and get up to the max 24bit 48Khz the headphones are capable of (subject to your source material and device being of that quality) - a standard USB-C to lightening cable will not work. I guess the thinking is many people will just use bluetooth and of course from iphone 15, apple now using usb-c. So support for older iphones is not ideal - we recommend a lightening to 3.5mm dongle then the supplied 3.5mm to usb-c cable

Got the green px8 for about $470. I had both px7 S2e and px8 on my head when testing. The px8 was way more comfortable. They need to brake in for at least 200 hrs. It's a solid premium product. Buy if you get a good price, highly recommended

The PX8 was initially designed as 24bit/96khz using usb-c wire. It’s a pity that they had to adjust downwards to 24/48 to solve a noise problem.
@bobbydazzler1780Ай бұрын
The only slight caveat to blowing the big bucks on headphones is longevity. Just how many years are you going to get? I had some sennheisers which basically fell to pieces after a few years. Perhaps the premium materials used in the higher PX8 model will add a few years to how long you’ll actually use them before replacing as they become old and worn looking.
@tie_breaker6 күн бұрын
I purchase the PX7's and it lasted 7 years before the BT failed. I was able to connect wires to it, which I don't like so I use it at home. I was surprised it lasted as long as it did as I was using it mostly in an infrared suana 1+ hour per day for the past 3 years. The leather pads broke down eventually, and so did my 2nd pair, then I couldn't find the original replacements, but the 3rd set of ear pad replacements that I got this year will last a long time, since it wasn't leather. All in all, I went through 2 sets of ear pads in 7 years. I'm looking at the PX8's as I know the rich deep sound it will provide. Not seeing any Black Friday specials so far, so I might have to go with the S2e's.

I tested the PX7 S2 and the Senny Momentum 4 and the Sony XM5. I like the PX7 S2 over the M4 for its punchier tight bass. The PX7 has disconnected 4 times during the week. M4 is a great choice, but volume did not go as high. XM5 speaker doesn't sound as good. Not worth the asking price of $400.
@tk40846 ай бұрын
I took the M4s back due to max volume being too low. i traded them in for the sony xm5s volume is much better but it doesnt sound as good as the m4s. i want to purchase another pair just for sound quality, not sure if i should get the m4s or the px7s2e. id pick up the px8s but a little too pricey.

I am going to purchase my first premium pair of headphones and have fallen for B&W so I have gone back and forth between PX7S2E and PX8 for a few weekse now: my guess is that if you use your headphones at home or in an office setting, and you can afford it, go for PX8. An upgrade in sound quality when compared to PX7S2e, with that extra dose of premium because of the metal diamond cut finish. If you are travelling with your new headphones, I would suggest PX7S2E, because of simple fact that your headphones will have to endure more and I honestly feel more comfortable commuting with a model that's more budget friendly but with that B&W sound and class
@jonathancabeza88816 ай бұрын
@@michelvangastel1727 thank you so much. I upgraded the replacement of my px7 to px8. Px8 is clearer in terms of sound but bass is more immersive on s2e. Px8 is tighter on bass.

Great, instead you‘d like to wear something made of oil and environmental-unfriendly plastics rather than more natural materials? I doubt it is the right decision. Just discussing…
@stewartmoore51582 ай бұрын
@@jasha3687 I'm not necessarily defending oil and plastics either, everything has its issues. But it's better than killing a cow, a sentient creature who is just as intelligent and capable of suffering as a dog, just for something that does not require leather. If you think slaughtering a cow is morally better than producing plastic, I invite you to watch slaughterhouse footage my friend. Plus, either headphone you buy has plastic, so your argument fails even there. (If you argue the cow was going to be killed anyway, you are still giving money to that industry and signalling to the market there is a demand for leather.)
