Happy Monday from a rainy California morning! Emeka, I purchased the B&W PX8 last week and have spent 4 days with them. I agree with almost all of your findings. I compared the PX8 to a few of my favorite wired headphones and with two wireless headphones. In brief I find the PX8 tuning to be an interesting intersection between quasi analytical and engaging. Depending on the genre and the mastering of the recording the PX8 can be one or the other. The are slightly more colored than a pure reference headphone, but in a way that turns off the left side of my brain as the right side is activated and enjoying whT I'm hearing. Excellent SQ, very good Soundstage and instrument separation. I find them as good as my Focal Radiance with a slightly more engaging SQ. I find them more reference than the ModHouse Argons. I find them both more reference and more engaging than my favorite travel headphones the DCA Aeon 2s. Compared to the Senn Momentum 3 they are superior in every way. ANC and transparency mode, the Apple AirPods Max are superior in every way except for SQ, but I find the ANC to be more than adequate, while transparency is quite good but not the super human hearing I'm used to from Apple devices. New subscriber, looking forward to your next vids Danke Scheon

For people that might be wondering the comparison between PX8 vs Beoplay H95, I have tested them side by side and here is my thoughts. In terms of practicality and comfort and also design, PX8 is better but I really liked the dial sound adjustment on the H95 and wished PX8 had it. For sound: What I felt like is: PX8 is more lively, more balanced and natural and for me, more enjoyable to listen. I found out that bass is more emphasized on the H95 but it felt a bit unnatural for me. For the mids, vocals I can say that PX8 is more crisp and more pronounced. Sound signature of these two headphones are quite different I would say. At the end, I decided to return the H95 and stick with the PX8. Hope that helps anyone looking for a comparison between the two.

Thanks for the comparison! I had a pair of H95’s for half a year and resold them I wasn’t over the moon with the sound quality & comfort for the very premium price though they were a very luxury product. I loved the dial’s for NC & Transparency & the Volume & the touch controls were some of the best too. I ordered PX8’s 007 recently so I’m really excited for them to come in and hopefully I have a similar outlook / opinion!

Amazing review my friend, keep up the good work. Already an Airpods Max owner but out of curiosity bought the PX8 and at first was disappointed whenI heard the smaller soundstage. But I quickly realised soundstage isn’t everything, the bass on these is amazing, and I’m not a bass head. It’s clean and tight but punchy is the best word you used, you feel it like a punch to the gut but it doesn’t bleed into other frequencies. That leads to seperation, this is what makes these shine in my book, every instrument has its own space to shine and it’s almost like a 3d quality. AirPods Max have a wider soundstage yes but each instrument is not even close to the definition and clarity of these, and flat by comparison. I was worried about the limited eq, as Airpods Max haven’t none at all but I find myself using the iPhone eq to flip between genres as I hate the stock sound, too harsh and boomy. But the PX8 in my view don’t need an eq, everything seems to sound good no matter what I throw at them. Beautifully designed and top notch materials. Plus, they are now at €403 on Amazon Germany!

I love the PX8 😍 premium material, somehow the most engaging of my entire collection. Best bass, deep rumbling but tight and structured. Lively mids, crisp treble (just a little laid back.) I’m just still grab my H95 for classical and light string instruments cuz its a little more detailed. Feels like a subwoofer on your head but less well structured in the low end. Both awesome but the PX8 somehow hit my favorite sound signature

Bravo! I have the 7 S2 and the 8 and you articulate the feeling I have when listening so well it gave me goose bumps. IMO, the ANC is fantastic. I was listening at half volume while outside and did not hear my neighbor cutting his lawn with a gas mower just 10' behind me. The Pass-Through mode worked well for me, and I love being able to turn off these features when in a quieter environment. The ANC off is a very important feature for me for more pure, non-DSP listening. When I A/B compare these two I had no problems with my iPhone11 when switching back, and forth. However, this process does get confounded when the Wear Sensor is engaged. My Sennheiser Mo3 is the benchmark for this feature. I still need to try listening wired. I'm looking forward to listening via USB connection. I wish they made it so we could listen via 3.5mm connection passively without power so I could use my MQA enabled portable DAC/amp. It's a bummer we cannot listen if out of battery juice too.

Aaah, that what I was waiting for 😎 Your review of the PX8...yessss! Love that you love them. And that shines through every minute of your again tremendously artful video. What a delight 🤗 I have already listen to the PX8 and also the Focal Bathys at my favourite audio dealer. Thus I was able to compare them and although I am more a Focal sound signature guy and am an owner of Focal loudspeakers and headphones, I have to admit Bowers & Wilkins nailed it here with the PX8...at least on the field of bluetooth. For me and my ears they conquered the crown in the league of wireless headphones...so far 😉 But compare for yourself. There is a Focal flag store in Berlin.... Your channel is really unique, a hidden gem. I hope your subscribers will increase more and more. Greets to Berlin!

Great content, subscribed after first few minutes of watching, really like your style and way how you describe. Now yesterday I bought PX7 S2 and really considering to return them (dont take me wrong, they sound amazing while wired with ifi DAC) but thinking of investing more to PX8 hearing your feelings about them. Now question is, if the difference in sound and reproduction is really worth to invest twice as much as PX 7 S2 ? I like wide stage, clear separation and punchy bass, which I thought PX7 S2 giving, but apparently they could be even improvement..Will appretiate your feedback.

Excellent review. I've owned around three pairs of B&W headphones over the years, first been P7 Wireless, which in my opinion are the best looking headphones B&W have made (got to admit after watching this video the PX8 are pretty damn close to them). I later owned the PX, and lastly the PX7 before moving over the the AirPods Max. A couple of complaints I had with the PX and PX7 was I really disliked the carbon fibre. To me it looked like plastic, and I felt it made them look on the cheap/less premium side, when compared to the materials used in the P7 Wireless. So glad to see B&W have ditched the carbon fibre, and went back to using metals. The last complaint I had with the PX and PX7 is that despite altering the settings for it in the app, the play pause feature that paused the music when the earcup/headphone was lifted, was very intermittent, and would work sometimes and then not. I seen a lot of times when I had removed the headphones, that the music was still playing. I also tried replacement pairs of the mentioned headphones, but the problem still remained. The thing I love with the AirPods Max is that this feature works each and every time I use it, and also the noise cancelling to me hands down beats the noise cancelling I experienced latterly with the PX7. If the PX8 could only match the AirPods Max noise cancelling, then I would be very tempted. But it's not all good with me with the AirPods Max and that is I hate the 8-10 percent drop in battery over a 24 hour period, when they are sat in the case. I never had this issue with the B&W, and I have only had this issue rectified once with the firmware 4A400, but it was broke again with the next firmware update. I've tried multiple pairs of AirPods Max, and they all suffer this issue, so it's definitely firmware related (which confirmed this with the brief fix with the 4A400 firmware).

If I were to buy the PX8 Headphones, I don’t require a dongle connected to my iPhone 15 Pro Max to enjoy "Hi-Res" audio, I would just connect a usb cable from the PX8 directly to my iPhone usb and I’m good to go as the PX8 have the inbuilt DAC yes ? Excellent review. It is particularly difficult to convey the nuances of sound that a set of headphones can deliver in words and pictures. It is subjective anyway, and then you have to try and find signposts that allow people to know what you are attempting to describe. In doing this, this review was incredibly successful. You really put across what we can expect and, more importantly ... left me, at least, really eager to get them on my ears and play my reference tracks to see how they sound. I am very interested, though - how do they compare to the Bang and Olufsen H95? The H95 are supposed to have a delicacy to their sound and a smoothness absent even from the Sennheiser Momentum 3. The Momentum 3 have something that the Momentum 4 supposedly doesn't have, and that is that sensitivity at the high end as well as the depth on the low end. Momentum 4 seems to have depth but not the sensitivity of the highs. Do you think these assertions are correct? I would really like to understand how these fare with the H95 as those cans are getting closer and closer to my spending limit for headphones, and as soon s they reach that limit, I will be in. However, the Momentum 4's are already within the boundary, and it is taking real strength to not just get those. I have the Momentum 3, and for every other reason I should ditch them, battery life, noise cancelling, etc. - Not good... but for sound quality ... I have not found their equal. I am not an apple user, so the AirPods Max does not feature as an alternative. Should the B & W P8 feature on the list of possibilities? Do you think it is worth the price bump from the Px7 II? Your videos are informative, like getting with a friend and talking about our experiences with headphones and audio listening. I enjoy them very much. I did however miss seeing one of your partnerships on this video - your videos always benefit from the different collaborations you include. They always add something special. I'm really looking forward to more of that. Thanks again, and I look forward to your thoughts on the comparisons I mentioned and anything else you would like to share. Great video. Great channel.

I’m also very curious about how these stack up to the H95 and other’s in this range. And like you, I’m a big fan of the momentum 3’s sound and just made the jump to the Px8 very recently. After a few weeks of listening, the clarity and detail difference between the two is quite noticeable and I think the Px8 will prove a happy upgrade for you should you decide to go that route. However I will say, the momentum 3’s do have a certain depth when it comes to bass that the Px8 seem a bit lacking in. These are definitely bassy headphones but Sennheiser seemed to be able to capture that subwoofer in ear cups effect and this is something I find myself missing with my PX8. I think because bowers wanted to be prominently interpreted as a mids forward sound signature they left that movie theatre rumble behind a bit in favor of a high energy and engaging clarity where mids can really shine. Still love them and am happy to retire my momentum 3’s finally, but if there’s something else out there that could combine the ever so satisfying low end of the momentum’s and the exquisite clarity and detail of the bowers I would be incredibly happy to exchange these.

Yesterday I was visiting my hifi store in Norway, and I was both trying out the PX8 and the Beoplay H95. I tried them side by side, and in most ways they are delivering audio from the top shelf. However, I found the sound from PX8 a bit warmer then from H95. they both have great treble and midts, but the PX8 has a bit more mature bass. at the same time, the H95 might have a tiny bit wider soundstage, but I am not hundred percent sure of this. they are both very good, but the sound signature is a bit different. after considering both models, I went ahead and purchased the PX8. Maybe both because PX8 is a bit cheaper than H95, but maybe also because I found the PX8 little bit more grown up when talking of audio.

Man, it seems some people really believe the PX8 are superior, and others are convinced the H95 are superior. What do you think it is about the H95’s sound that makes it stand far above? Is the bass fuller and more impactful? Are the highs more airy and sibilant would you say?

Really, the PX72 is a perfect headphone for its price. The only thing you will be missing is the lack of punchy bass. In that case, I would like to ask you to look at the Sennheiser M4, which is surprisingly good and even cheaper. Bowers & Wilkins PX8 will only appeal to those who want to own it because of its design. But the price (without improvement in noise cancelling and ambient mode) is not worth it.

Could you Please describe the sound signature/projection difference between the B&O H95? I’m still using B&O H6 gen2 which I love. I had the H95 briefly, yet decided to send them back due to them being incredibly revealing and sparkly. To a point when it was too much for certain genre of Music I listen to. Bringing down that 7-8khz region down made this non issue, yet kilked their wonderful characteristic. So I’ve sent them back. Tried Momentum 3 after, and I likied them but they were too bassy and muddy. And even after eq the were missing that B&O clarity and detail retrieval i so much like. Never Heard a bowers before, now I’m tempted. :) P.S H6 gen2 i use do Weigh about 265 grams, they weight does matter to me. I tend to work 12-14 hours quite often. Comfort is important, but only after SQ, otherwise It’s go bose QC or Sony :P

That’s the only thing preventing me from absolutely loving my PX8. Like you said, the low end is lacking noticeably in the sub bass department, so when you’re expecting that theatre like rumble to come through, it’s such a let down when it doesn’t happen. I haven’t tried the H95 but am becoming increasingly tempted, as you’re not the first I’ve heard with the opinion that PX8’s bass leaves a bit to be desired.

We just got the H95 into the studio. And I tend to agree with you upon listening for just a few hours to both headphones side by side. What I have noticed though is that the H95 tend to render sharp and bright highs poorly. At least for me, it’s just too sharp and irritating to the ears. But their mids and low ends are beefier than the PX8. We will soon put out the in-depth comparison soon. So do watch out for that.

@@CarefulOptimist That’s good to hear as I am sensitive to harsh highs and sibilance in headphones. Even the air pods max, though I really enjoyed their sound, had to be returned due to their higher frequencies hurting my ears. So it sounds like I should probably steer clear of the H95. I just put in an order for the MW75 to see if maybe they can capture some of that PX8 magic with that deeper, beefier low end that I am looking for. Thanks for your reply!

Great review! Thanks man. I have the PX8 and am pretty happy with them but am still somewhat torn not having tried others in this price bracket. Do you have any thoughts about how these compare to the H95’s, the mw75’s, the Bathys, 5909’s, or others? Sound quality is the most important thing to me and I find the lack of deep bass a little bit of a let down in the Px8. Also I’ve found i’m somewhat sensitive to sibilance so things like the air pods max, were a definite no-go for me. Thanks for your time! Also, just gotta say you rock the PX8 aesthetic. They look bomb!

" Lack of deep bass"?? The PX8 have more sub bass and substantially more mid bass than any of the other headphones you mentioned. Either there is something wrong with your specific PX8, or you're doing something that keeps you from getting a proper seal. Do you wear glasses, or have longer or very full hair?
@tylerstirling2843
@tylerstirling2843 2 жыл бұрын
@@edwinramos4910 Sorry, should have been a little more clear about that. You’re right, they have a substantial amount of bass and punch, what I was referring to was what seems to be an absence of sub bass that tends to bleed into the mid bass and leave a less low frequency texture/ separation and more of a boomy sound. Coming from momentum 3’s, air pods max, and air pods pro 2’s, I think these might have a less prominent mid presence allowing for a more distinguished sub bass presentation. Don’t get me wrong though. They’re still the best headphones i have heard to date and am enjoying them immensely. Just wish i could get that little extra sub woofer like slam when listening to certain songs.
@edwinramos4910
@edwinramos4910 2 жыл бұрын
@@tylerstirling2843 Thanks for clariying, but I'm not sure what else to tell you, because bass is not something I thought I'd see listed as a complaint about the PX8 from anyone. Also, typically, mid bass slams, and sub bass rumbles. The PX8 does have a lot of mid bass, which can somewhat mask the sub bass...even though it has plenty of that also.
@tylerstirling2843
@tylerstirling2843 2 жыл бұрын
@@edwinramos4910 Yea, rumble is the better word for it. That frequency so low that you can hardly hear it but you can feel it. Both the momentum 3, and air pods max do a better job of this. Everything else goes to the PX8 though.

Hello. Based on the features and sound quality, my question is: Is it worth spending more than 500 euros on the Bowers & Wilkins PX8s for use in an iPhone 14 Pro or buy the Sony WH-1000XM5s?. Thank you. Your Channel content is great, great review in every aspect. Best regards✌🏻

It all depends on you and your sound signature preference. The XM5 is bass heavy, and not as detailed as the PX8. If you are already asking this question, then the PX8 is not for you. But before you try the xm5, I suggest you check out the BW PX7 S2 or Sennheiser Momentum 4.
