I,too, grew up listening and loving Master Bob James’ music - Fourplay was the soundtrack of my life during the college years. Then they had to go and add Rick Brain, Boney & Kirk to the mix!Every single guy on that stage have been my all time favorites throughout my lifetime! What a blessing! I appreciate what you may be trying to say in that phrase "....who we truly are...", but trying to imprint or extrapolate a musical group as a success of cultural, racial, ethnic or other kind of diversity is a mistake. Ultimately, these guys got to who they are and where they are on the basis of musical talent, merit, and aspiration and hard work. Their racial or other make-up is largely irrelevant. I think the main point is that this is an American Band, kind of like who Grand Funk Railroad was back in the 60's rock world.......they represent a certain status or accomplishment in music that somehow symbolized the geographical location where the band mates were from and produced the work.

That's what makes life so interesting and challenging at the same time....you can't count on anything as a matter of logic, reason, common sense, pleasure, etc. We're all so darn different....why we have a couple of political parties.....some folks are more advanced, enlightened, evolved, etc. in terms of the mental, arts, philosophical, prudence, etc. Luckily we seem to fall into that latter group.

This and Women of Ireland where my mom's two favorite pieces of music from Bob James / Fourplay when she died in 2012 the only way I was able to sleep with to listen to that over and over again it brought me peace then and now

This is a piece of KZbin heaven right here. I just watched a clip of Bob James reacting to his tunes being sampled. (very cool clip) It's no surprise- he wrote some kickazz groovalicious tunes and Westchester Lady is one of my favorites. Smokin!

I was always taught that playing a lot of flams was a groove killer. Apparently not so during the bass solo. That is one FAT groove.

I am a great fan of Bob James style.. a real and giant artist....great sense of melting groove and rythm with some rb rythms...the art of creating spaces between notes ......so unique !
