You're absolutely right about being right on top of them. I watched 5 deer roam around my tree for an hour then head out toward a clearcut at sundown, meanwhile the entire time I was glassing a giant hog of a big bodied deer laying up against a giant pine tree about 90 yards away, that never budged. I saw his tail flicker and parts of his antlers as his head moved from the other side of the tree. He was in a different class than the other deer, and they all seemed to stay at least 30 yards from him. He didn't stand up until it was dark and I had to quickly climb down and bust out before he walked by my tree.

That's awesome! Nothing like a plan coming together based on the intel you work hard to obtain! You need to get a camera with better zoom! Hard to see the antlers on that deer! Obviously it would help if you had a few hundred thousand subscribers though! Keep up the hunting and really like that you include the hand drawn map illustrating the tactics. I think the majority of hunters who religiously watch hunting videos are trying to learn and improve, and there are a lot of hunting you-tubers that just want to glorify and entertain, but how do we trust they're any good if they can't explain their tectics?

Hi Jay, thanks for your comments and feedback! I do need better zoom I’ll see what I can find for this year. Swamp bucks are tricky but they’re fun to try to figure out. I’m glad you enjoy the tactics, I’ll be doing more in upcoming videos 👍🏻

...too bad there isn't a big enough tree out in the cattails to climb up in closer to that buck's bed! I have a similar spot I'm trying to hunt in the future that is a massive bedding area (maybe 10 acres) but the majority of the trees are scraggly thin red pines, maybe 4" diameter and the rest is tall ironwood, buckthorne and grasses...almost have to hunt from the ground.
