In this video, I create a nano round aquarium with a diameter of 35 cm, featuring just one stone. The remarkable thing is that this setup operates without a filter, additional fertilizers, or supplemental CO2. Let’s dive into the materials used for this project:
Marine/River Pebbles
Aquarium Soil
Granulated Substrate
Root Capsules for Plants
Plants (Anubias nana, Juncus repens, Micranthemum Pearl weed, two types of Cryptocoryne, and Christmas moss)
Adhesive for Attaching Plants and Moss
Black Volcanic Stone
9-Watt Lamp with Stand
Vermicompost
Care for the First 3 Weeks of Your New nano Aquarium:
Days 1-3: Change 50% of the water every 6 hours.
Days 4-7: Change 50% of the water every 12 hours.
Second Week: Change 50% of the water every 24 hours.
Third Week: Change 50% of the water every 3 days.
Fourth Week and Beyond: You can reduce water changes to 30% or 50% once a week.*
(*Note: Sometimes starting a new nano aquarium can take longer than a month. This typically happens when you incorporate a large piece of wood in your aquascape and use slow-growing plants like Bucephalandra and Anubias. Therefore, it’s advisable to always include fast-growing plants alongside others. The key is persistence-continue water changes while adding beneficial bacteria and water conditioner (if using tap water). Eventually, your aquarium will stabilize and function as a self-sustaining ecosystem!
Remember that each aquarium is a unique biosystem and may behave differently. These recommendations are based on personal experience from creating and maintaining over 30 aquariums. Your aquarium requires regular care, attention, and observation, much like any other living organism.
