If there's one thing Ive learned in this hobby that contradicts general consensus is that small tanks are easier to keep algae free than big tanks. Bowl looks great! One observation: Male rice fish are quite aggressive with smaller fish!

It looks really great, so lush! Don't you think crushed lava rock is kind of like magic? I had some left over in bucket after I set up my pond, and I couldn't believe how clear the water in the bucket was the next day. Next time I set up an aquarium, I definitely want some crushed lava rock as a base layer.

This bowl is so lovely to see, and thank you for giving us the views of its evolution. I'd love to hear more about adding 'just a small' amount of CO2......I think if I ever do CO2 I'd like to add only a little to enhance growth but not end up with fast growing plants and hence more maintenance.

RO water does make impact on the pH if I understood my teacher correctly. So I was curious about the pH of this bowl. Maybe that does also impact the algae growth...

@MJAquascaping Awesome video! I have a question about feeding. I have seen a few planted, where there is actually enough of a food web to feed the fish without having to give them food. Is this possible on a set up like this? Could there be enough algae perpetually to feed the shrimp? Just trying to figure out how this would be done. Thank you! Awesome video.

Hi MJ, I have a question. I'm hoping you will know how to help. I had to take a break from keeping tanks and want to set up some tanks again but they have mould growing in the silicone because they were left damp for a long time. Is there a way to remove mould from clear silicone without having to re-silicone my tanks? Thanks 🙏
@MJAquascaping Жыл бұрын
Hmm not sure, but try soaking some paper towels with bleach and push those onto the silicone and leave it for a day or so

"Most plants will grow better in soft water" I would like an explanation as to why. Walstad's book actually says plants grow better in hard water, including "soft water plants", because hard water provides more minerals and "soft water plants" are just plants that can deal with the deprivation better. That makes sense enough to me, a pleb.

A sphere with a 55inch circumference is about 12 gallons in volume. The measurement you made wasn't super precise and I don't know how exactly it's a sphere, but seems reasonable to assume it's at least 10 gallons.
