Nice work, Hannes! Gonna have to find a bowl and try this.

I had assumed stuff like this would require distance-to-ground sensors in the nose and tail, I'm really impressed you got it done with firmware. Looks fun! I posted it to the Onewheel subreddit by the way.

I can’t wait to try out the tune! I’d been thinking about creating a tune like this myself for a while because it was so frustrating not being able to ride a miniramp. But I never really got around to it, and honestly, I don’t think I could’ve done it as well as you did. They don’t call you VESCmann for nothing! ;) Unfortunately, it’s been raining non-stop here in Northern Germany for weeks, and riding a bowl in the rain is… less than ideal. But as soon as it’s dry, I’ll test the tune. And if I post anything about it, I’ll make sure to use the hashtag #bowltune!

This was very educational! Can't wait to try! Seems like a gamechanger to me! I did not enjoy asphalt pumptracks on Onewheel XR, trying to slow when doing downhill was a mistake. Bowls also have been a struggle for me on VESC, if this is as big of an improvement as it looks, its going to give me so much new stuff to try for the next season!

I changed IMU sample rate when you told me to at the Swiss race, all my board are on 416 now. And when I’m setting up new boards for people, I also immediately put it at 416. This has been a game changer for sure

Do you also change the loop hertz to 416 to match in refloat?

Can't wait to test the bowltune on my favourite pumptrack. Should work very well. Maybe some tweakings are needed because of the higher speed. Hopefully no taildrags or nosedives anymore 😄
@VESCmann22 күн бұрын
don't use the push function for pump tracks as it would just tilit the nose up when you're on top of a bump. at lower speeds the basic bowl tune worked well on the pump track for me. maybe increase the release ATR release speed when you you wanna go faster.
@Cptnfloat22 күн бұрын
@@VESCmann what if i increase the the erpm limit for the variable tiltback? Is this also an option? A higher nose should be in theory no problem, if it will level in the other direction when i ho down the bump on the other side. So it could be like a booster when i fully lean forward. But in theory it's not easy to predict the behavior. Thank you for this amazing work and the explanations for tuning the paramaters it is really a creative work to use all the parameters in the right way
@VESCmann22 күн бұрын
@@Cptnfloat the erpm for VT is the starting point for lowering the nose. so you have think vice versa as you want to speed up and keep the flow going you won't need the push. just try with the uploaded bowl tune without any changes first and get a feeling for it

@@VESCmann I almost made it! Just missed the beginning. I had to drive out with the car because there was zero phone reception where I was. I parked somewhere in a lot and managed to watch the premiere, but then some security guy came and kicked me out. So, I ended up randomly parked on the shoulder of a country road to catch the rest of it. Now I’m on a Lidl parking lot and just rewatched the video. (Oh, and I needed internet for other stuff too-I didn’t go out just for the video! I'm not that crazy😅)

Vescmann always stepping up the game! 🚀 Quick question, when I adjust the sample rate in App Config to 416hz. Should I also change it to 416hz in Loop Hertz inside Refloat Specs? Thanks and happy shreds 🤙
@VESCmann12 күн бұрын
@@ricardorocheta3262 this is not so relevant but as a few riders asked about that, I did change also loop Hz to 416 on one of my boards. I don't feel a difference, I had a feeling that it might got even a smoother a little. this can be placebo. in theory with loop Hz set to the same 416 you relieve some package CPU without losing data received by the IMU
@freedomcaller17 күн бұрын
What motor did you program this on? I wanna test it as intended. I like that you figured out a way to hack in a "band pass filter" to the tiltback 🤓🤩
@VESCmann16 күн бұрын
@@freedomcaller I tested with hypercore, superflux HS and canoncore. so maybe for SF HT you also have to lower P a little if you feel some vibrations

One last question Vescmann, for the stop/startup if I want to go very steep which of the faults delays should I switch to 1000ms if I want to go big bowls? The pitch fault delay? The roll fault delay? The half switch fault delay? The full switch fault delay? Or all of them? Thanks and happy shreds 🤙

So this only works with refloat?
@VESCmann20 күн бұрын
@@1c2h3i4v5a6s no, but it's better because of the separately adjustable mahony for roll and pitch. lower roll mahony keeps the nose up in turns. with float package you can enable turn tilt for a similar result
