some etalus mechanic clarification just in case anybody doesn't know - when you shield etalus' hammer or when you're shielding on top of ice when he pops it with down b, your shield will be frozen frozen shields do not regenerate health. both making shield break setups easier and conditioning people not to shield in front of etalus - if you connect an up air, you get your up special back - you can rar out of dash attack on hit. dash attack bair is a very useful bnb to know - falling out of etalus dacus is sort of intended. the idea is that its on etalus to chose when to let the usmash rip to call out the di on the dash attack itself. this one has conflicting evidence, but if people keep falling out of your confirm, maybe change your timings - up special is immune to projectiles while traveling. eta can still be hit while charging on the trampoline tho so be carefuul - you can airdodge out of the trampoline part of the up b. that way you can better dodge fleet dair without having to time the projectile immunity - if you get grabbed by etalus upair, you get your double jump and airdodge back. - special pummel will freeze you in place as soon as the person being thrown is grounded and actionable or if they go into knockdown. from my loose testing this happens 3 frames after the victim is actionable. you can shield, dodge or parry the effect to avoid getting frozen sorry for the text dump. this character tends to be a nightmare for lower level players so having a point of reference to what mechanics youre getting hit by should help ease that pain a tiny bit good luck and for the love of god please just parry his side b

no, next will be a new character. they already announced that in 2025 there'd be two returning characters (one of them is Etalus obviously) and 2 new characters, one that's from the aether series (could be another Dungeons character, or one of the various NPCs and lore characters) and one that's entirely new. So they'll most likely go newcomer, veteran, newcomer. That veteran will probably be Absa.

arcade mode isn't difficult, just badly designed, it needed an overhaul before they gated a skin behind it. all it tells people is you got lucky and the opponent happened to not cheat by reading your inputs

I can not understand why fighting game fans are constantly stating their preferred games are dead. Shit melee has been called dead no less than a dozen times and people still play. Just enjoy the games and quit making up drama.

I’d actually argue I think etalus might end up being more of a problem for higher level players in a few weeks. The issue is that edge guarding him is so easy, that low level players are actually going for it and killing people, whereas I never really see low level players go for edge guards against most other characters. Who knows maybe this bear is just trash though, I feel like a fish out of water without wavedash out of dash attack.

1:25 "His recovery blows" 0:44 Etalus drops down up-air, double jump up-air, Up-b up-air, UP-B AGAIN up-air I think that's a broken recovery to do two up specials in a row. I don't know how, maybe because he used an attack, but most can't do two up specials. Only exception is Forsburn who can up special through smoke. Though, he just up special, attack, up special. That's broken

@@yeahno555 It being just vertical doesn't mean anything. It has armor while going up (says others) so you can't down air him as Fleet like Bowler said. If it has armor and he can up special a second time after an attack, I don't play him so I don't know if it's specific, then he can recover from far away. Especially if if edgeguarding fails.

@@redyashi it ONLY has armor if etalus used his neutral b while standing on ice to gain his ice armor. otherwise, it's completely vulnerable. and you only get your up b back if you land an up air specifically. his recovery worked the exact same in rivals 1 and he had one of the worst recoveries in that game so i think it's the same here.

Yo I instantly thought the same thing that he has the worst recovery in the game as soon as I played him and he is mad slow but he makes up for it in power he's kind of a beast what I'm a little upset about is I only see room for two more characters to be added and if so that's BULLSHITTT!!!
