Wow, a lot of incorrect bowling observations in this comment section. This is not how you should be spinning a bowling ball, this is the reverse wrist action of a proper throw. The technique shown is how most amateurs think the pros add spin, by pulling up on the ball with your fingers. This is how you break a finger and get horrible consistency. The proper technique is the reverse of this throw (admittedly proper technique is all but impossible with only two fingers and one hand but still...) the fingers should be moving from up to down, it's like a reverse basketball shot, cupped wrist, quickly dropped at the end of the throw is how you make revs. There is absolutely no pushing with the fingers when you properly hook.
