A big thanks to the awesome crew at the Gravity Discovery Centre in Gingin for letting us use their 45m leaning tower for our own experiments. If you wanna head out there and check it out, it's not far from Perth where we live: gravitycentre.com.au/leaning-t...

We are passionate about seeing children released from poverty and we would love you to consider sponsoring a child with Compassion. What's the 44 Club you may ask? Well it all started in the outro of this video • HOW TO BOTTLE FLIP (ON... where we wondered if anyone was still watching the video at that point, and to comment 44 (Scott's fave number) if they were. Brett then said 44 Club get on board and the rest is history. The 44Club is the official How Ridiculous fan club made up of people who love our videos and watch them right to the very end. We've even got 44 Club merch now! So yeh, that's the story. Pretty random but good fun at the same time.

The reason oobleck behaves like it does is because when you slowly go down, the molecules of the starch are less compact and it makes it less dense, but when you go on it hard, the molecules come together get forced into one area, which is why it behaves like a solid

@paull2937
@paull2937 Жыл бұрын
8:58 Let’s use a kinematic equation to see if the bowling ball is actually dropped from 45 meters. Since bowling balls are dense, air resistance doesn’t really matter here. S=Vot+1/2 at² S=displacement. Vo=initial velocity=0. t=time=2.98 secs. Vot cancels since Vo=0. S=1/2 (-9.8)(2.98)². S=-43.51 meters. So assuming no air resistance, it’s about 43.51 meters high. But because of air resistance it’s probably exactly 43 meters. You did a good job measuring the height of that thing.

Corn starch is primarily used as a thickening agent in the kitchen. You use it to thicken sauces / soups without giving them a floury taste.

My mother used to make corn starch pudding. Also, you can use cornstarch as a breading/coating on meat. And corn starch is used a thickener as opposed to flour because cornstarch has less of a tendency to leave you lovely little clumps of undisolved/incoprated thicker in your suaces and gravies.

Drop Oobleck on Oobleck! Will the falling Oobleck shatter completely on contact? Will it stick and then melt into the Oobleck pool? How will the Oobleck look while falling through the air? Will dropping different sized amounts of Oobleck change the results? :O And best of all, you can color the different Ooblecks different colors to really show off the collision, and maybe make some cool looking results :)

Cornstarch is a common ingredient made from the starchy portion of corn kernels known as the endosperm. It's used as a thickening agent for gravies, marinades, sauces, soups, and casseroles. Though most people think cornstarch is reserved for cooking, it's quite useful outside the kitchen.

Stir until it's completely dissolved. Add the borax water to the glue mixture and mix well, until the Gak forms a blob around your spoon. Have fun!

The more force you hit with oobleck, the harder it is to bypass it. That's why the bowling ball didn't sink. For people who *still* don't understand, let's say there's you, and a humongous crowd, if you sprint in the crowd, the more likely it is for you to stop. If you went slow, you could easily bybass it (same with oobleck, if you're slow, then you'll sink)

Here's a thought (old video, I know, but might be worth a revisit with the phantom camera) - dye the pool oobleck pink and then a water balloon filled with blue oobleck gets dropped on it. (Fill the water balloon like they do with the balloons with toys and flowers in them via a vaccuum chamber). The water balloon won't likely survive, being thin plastic, but the resulting explosion and mixture might be amazing.

Corn starch is used for a LOT of things. At home, it's usually used to thicken up gravies and as an emulsifier for jelly. It is also used as baby powder and as the main ingredient in wallpaper paste. Most commonly, in industrial use, it is the white powder you see on medical gloves, to make it easier to put on with slightly moist hands.

Cornstarch is used in the printing industry as it is sprayed on after a sheet of paper, to provide a space so the ink doesn't stick to the next sheet as that would cause the ink to glue the sheets together.

10 months late, but this would not be worth it. Not only would it cost A LOT, considering that small of a pool they did, and they needed 150kg of cornstarch, I reckon that it would require at least a couple megagrams(kinda like how computer storage works, bytes, kilobytes, megabytes, etc), and also, if they happen to sink in, it would be nearly IMPOSSIBLE to get out, causing them to either: A) Sink at die from all the pressure, or B) Cause them to suffocate
