What's the 44 Club you may ask? Well it all started in the outro of this video • HOW TO BOTTLE FLIP (ON... where we wondered if anyone was still watching the video at that point, and to comment 44 (Scott's fave number) if they were. Brett then said 44 Club get on board and the rest is history. The 44Club is the official How Ridiculous fan club made up of people who love our videos and watch them right to the very end. We've even got 44 Club merch now! So yeh, that's the story. Pretty random but good fun at the same time.
We are passionate about seeing children released from poverty and we would love you to consider sponsoring a child with Compassion. The reason they didn't bounce any higher than about level 3 was because the trampoline hit the sand with a single ball and 2 balls so it couldn't store any more energy from the bowling balls as potential energy which is stored in the springs. Short Version: Dig a hole under the tramp and try again with new springs.

You have to drop them at slightly different times. The tension released on the trampoline from the first one to hit is what helps kick the other one back up even higher. That’s what happened at 5:35.

You should try holding one bowling ball a bit lower than the other, maybe a foot difference between the two while at the top. Then just make sure you drop both at the same exact time from two slightly different heights. Therefore this will make the timing precisely what is needed for a double bounce

For fixing the stretched spring situation, I recommend spreading the stretched springs around the tramp and moving the good springs to the damaged area. Then the damaged springs, being spread out, have less affect.

Not so much dropping at the same time, but just lifting one ball about a single length higher or something would've taken care of the timing easier.
@scythelord
@scythelord 5 жыл бұрын
Alex, that makes absolutely no sense. Terminal velocity is irrelevant here. The entire point is the first ball exerting all of its energy into the trampoline springs before the second then further extends the springs by dumping its energy into it, while simultaneously the first one loses contact with the trampoline. It's the kinetic energy of almost entirely two bowling balls converted into spring tension exerted on only one ball. Whether they are at terminal velocity or not doesn't make a difference, which btw, they most certainly aren't at terminal velocity by 45 meters. Terminal velocity figures for bowling balls I could find tend to be about 460 km/h or 285 mph. MUCH higher than any trampoline would absorb. Even if they were at terminal velocity and the trampoline could take it, the launched ball would exceed terminal velocity for a significant time period after being launched upward by the trampoline making it reach higher than a single ball reaching terminal velocity.

The phenomenon is famous across the world. It goes by many names, the double bounce, the boost, the gain, the high jump. And then there's its counterpart. The ying to yang. The drain, the drop, the assist. Individually discovered by thousands of children across the world, with unique names but a concept universal to a generation of kids.

I loved when my friends and I would double bounce and one of us would fly up in the air..but what sucked when you were jumping (but was kinda fun/funny at the same time) was when they would steal you’re jump or you would steal theirs and your knees would buckle and you would fall 😂 (I don’t know if I worded that right and I don’t really know how else to explain it 😂 it’s also 5am and I haven’t been to sleep yet)

Timing difference needs to equal the time it takes for one first ball to stretch the trampoline. When the first ball reaches lowest point, the second ball needs to hit. Of course that also means you'll need more ground clearance. You could control the timing with the beat of a song. One person drops on the third beat, second person drops on the fourth beat.

Physics teacher here. You actually mean conservation of energy, not momentum. Each ball starts at a given height, which means it has gravitational potential energy (GPE). That is all the energy it is ever going to have during this series of interactions. As the ball falls it loses height so it loses GPE but gains the same amount of kinetic energy (KE) as it gains speed. Then it hits the trampoline and stretches the springs. That means all that GPE was converted to KE and then finally elastic potential energy (EPE). When the springs snap back, the energy goes back into giving the ball speed and height before falling again and hitting the ground. The reason the ball doesn't bounce back to the height where they dropped it is because some of the energy went into sound (the whistle of the ball and clang of the trampoline), deforming the springs, and heat. Now when you add a second ball, both balls are giving the trampoline EPE. But before the trampoline can give it all back to the first ball, the second ball hits and takes all the energy that's left of what the first ball gave to the trampoline, plus what it gave itself. So the second ball has extra energy and bounces higher, and the first ball has less and bounces lower than it would have by itself.

Cooking with Cows. Yes, to me the best thrower they got is the one filming at the top with the Dumbass that never got the timing right. Then the one arranging the springs. And the worse thrower is the dumbass. There is plenty of proof in all of their throwing videos. Specially when they do a challenge of who does best.

You should make a pipeline that drops bowling balls one-by-one. That way they can bounce off one another's force. It's a similar idea of lifting off just as your friend lands so the trampoline shoots your friend further up in the air.
