It's because there are parts of the speedun where there's a maximum amount of time you can take, but taking less time than the maximum doesn't save time in the run overall, it would just involve more waiting

Speed runners scare me. I can't believe some humans have this level of skill. Extremely impressive. I've done like one speed run for fun in my life, practiced, trained, spent like a month to beat it as fast as possible even learning glitches and watching world records. I love this so much. You running is often fun on its own, but I love when speed runners cover other speed runners work and explain it. It's like an in the trenches play-by-play version of SpeedDocs or SummoningSalt. Perhaps a speedy Jobst. 😂

Fantastic run!! I love this game so much, one of the only Nintendo releases to make me feel something in a long time. I wish it was longer too… can only hope Nintendo decides to implement some more experimental stuff in whatever main Mario game comes next.

@@ErykRoll The whole setup of the discrete islands with little obstacle courses built on them feels distractingly artificial to me and I don’t think the platforming it’s in service of is ultimately that special. You’re entitled to your opinion but I’m also entitled to mine, and the game didn’t do much for me and it didn’t help that everyone was treating it like the second coming of Christ, and that I had recently been dealing through the frustration of the 3D Allstars fiasco. I don’t like it and I don’t have to :)

The thing about Bowsers Fury speedruns is that it’s pretty much entirely determined by the boss fights. Since the times you fight bowser are all on timers, you can’t beat the game faster than the time it takes to spawn bowser and beat him. All the stuff you do in between just has to be within that time frame but going any faster doesn’t really matter. It’s like with frame rules in SMB, but they’re just way larger frame rules

If you like that part of the run where he goes super fast and bounces off things to get to the shine at around 19:47 . You would LOVE Marble It Up's speedunning scene. There is a lot of that kinda stuff. P.S. I am also biased because I am a top runner of the game (if you call being top 25 in a game with 55 runs, and being in the annual official speedrun competition a top runner)

I watched a lot of early Bowser's Fury Speedruns. So it's nice to see how it evolved and damn is it much much faster. I remember them struggling with sub 30min. Edit: That early first Sky Island Shine is amazing! probably the largest departure from older routes.

This really shows how bug free the devs made the game. Most of the speed running tricks are speed tech and not phasing through walls going out of bounds or falling through the floor.

The ice trick is a pretty huge glitch that they didn’t seem to patch from the original 3D World. Also, the rabbit skip on Mount Magmeow can be considered a glitch.
