It's similar enough. It's more that King Boo's power is stated (by E. Gadd) to be able to destabilize an entire dimension. And since he's cast illusions before and is called the "King of Illusions", they're assuming that gives him resistance to that ability to some extent.

Your spot on actually. The illusion part is exactly what both the ruby and king boo does. The only difference is that boo is an illusion figure so the ruby's power was pretty much powerless against king boo.

I do think death battle underplayed BOTH when it came to base stats and cosmology, they both scale to roughly complex multi in terms of AP and DC- and are dead even in terms of speed (no really) It should roughly be a tie with base stats, but powers should still go to bowser due to eggman having next to no resistance to transmutation magic. Their trump cards are roughly even but I believe a notable exception should be eggman having NO counter to the pure hearts which directly counter time and dimension altering on a complex multiversal level (countering time eater, but also the chaos emeralds themselves and phantom ruby due to them being canonically stated to trump over ANY chaotic magic or energy) Also on sage's contribution, death battle opponents unless stated within CANON (not crossover games like the olympic games) have no prior knowledge of eachother meaning sage would have NO data on the koopa troop other than what she can observe mid battle. With over 98 million troops and power ups and trump cards sage has NO idea what they do- it's VERY unlikely sage would be able to come up with a winning plan in time with flawed information to draw her conclusions from Overall, it should be WAY closer but bowser should edge out a win due to superior hax and edging out the trump card category. Paper mario is busted lmao.

Couple of things! I think the reason they didn't include everything for everyone is just because if you do it for one side, you have to for the other. And if it doesn't change the winner or just makes it a tie, it feels like a waste. So if they include Metal overlord or Super Eggman, people will ask why not include Wonder Flower Bowser or Bowser with the full Dream Stone. It gets complicated. Just giving 1 trump card to each side was probably for budget and because most of the other trump cards would become a tie or Bowser might still win depending on the matchup. Like Nightmare Eggman is stronger than Metal Overlord, but is definitely only equal to, say, Star Rod Bowser (both universal reality warpers). For some of the smaller things, Bowser and Bowser Jr. have shown times where they have their own wands, that's why Jr. had one. Chance Time was probably fine since it didn't play a major role. It's technically canon, since Paper Mario has Luigi's diary mentioning that Mario Party and Mario Kart and so on are actual things they do. But I think it being used only a little was ok. Sage did use the Emeralds though. She teleported them to the Death Egg to max out its power!
