Watain are next level song writing and black metal. Their songs are so deep it takes few times listening to one song to get a grip and understanding. These guys have dark souls. And Erik the songwriter and singer is a dark genius. They are heavily influensed by Bathory. Listen to songs like Waters of Ain, The wild hunt, They rode on. Waters of ain is in my oppinion the best black metal song written. Back in the days they used to throw rotten pigblood into the crowd. People throwing up, creating chaos. Rotten animal parts dangling around their necks. \m/

Great reaction guys. Watain are one hell of an intense band. They truly believe what they sing about and they're very extreme even outside of the music. One of those rare bands that are just the real deal. They're one of my favorite bands, they've got such an aggressive energy. It seems like you guys were pleasantly surprised by it! I think Watain will grow on you even more with more listens. I had the same effect when listening to them, it takes you in and you get completely lost in the music. It's crazy!

I was at Wacken 08 and had left the main stage to walk into the tent right as they were starting and it was like walking into a different dimension. The air was almost thicker. The atmosphere was heavy. A live band you should definitely seek out.

The singer Erik, is a very intense guy, and he sort of "lives it" as you talk about. Fun fact, they have a bar called the Wolfs lair, its location is kept secret and they keep a lot of cool stuff there. Allegedly

I think you already know that there isn't just Black Metal, and what they are doing there isn't only what every band seems to do on the stage. They are prom Uppsala Swe. Stellarvore --> Stellar Devour, Black Holes, The Gods Of Death, and Destruction, eating the Stars of firmament, bringing The total Darkness into the Universe as you know was predicted to happen in couple billions ov years
