24! Ahhh the Space Between Worlds was AMAZING and I’m so hyped for the sequel. (Mr Scales is a side character in the first book!) I’m doing basically the opposite of y’all this year, though, trying to get through stuff on my backlist rather than buying new books. Y’all are making that harder by talking about all these cool-sounding releases! Iron Widow was inspired by Darling in the Franxx, btw, which…well, it looks like an absolute hot mess of a show, but hey, we got Iron Widow out of it! Aw man, the US covers for We Hunt the Flame are so beautiful. I liked the first book but really didn’t care for the second, so I hope y’all get more out of the series than I did.

24! I just finished Skin of the Sea by Natasha Bowen, which is about Mami Wata from West African myths, and then my next book is book 2 of this duology, Soul of the Deep. Jasad Heir by Sara Hashem is next, which y'all already know about, then Bronze Drum by Phong Nguyen about revolutionary sisters in historical Vietnam. I'm also rereading This Poison Heart so I can read book 2. My physical TBR is maybe 20 books, but I still wanna buy a few more titles. I already have some of the books y'all mentioned in my TBR. If I can find them😅

2️⃣4️⃣ Whoa, how have I not heard of Blood at the Root?! Finding family and community “at an HBCU for the young, Black, and magical”? All I needed to hear (I paused to video to open another tab and add it to my TBR). Did not know about the sequel to The Space Between Worlds! Another unexpected sequel is The Improvisers by Nicole Glover. There is NO information beyond a November release date, but yay for more in that series. I want to revisit The Art of Prophecy before moving on the sequel. I loved the world and the action and I can hardly wait to find out what’s next for the characters. So many books I want to read, but I’ll limit myself to naming 2 (beyond The Art of Destiny): The Palace of Eros by Caro de Robertis (I loved Cantoras by the same author and I’m intrigued by this Greek myth retelling that features a NB deity of love) and House of Elephants by Claribel A. Ortega (3rd Witchlings book, a fun and witchy MG series).

When you get to mistborn… if yer not feeling it, BUT love one or two of the characters… let us know which characters you like best and if you’d continue reading based on knowing those characters get GOOD later… lol. I say this because book one was meh for me, but i loooooved one of the characters. And that person ends up getting an amazing section later and was worth pushing thru for. lol

Most fans of that anime were super disappointed with the world building so I was so pleased to see Xiran’s take on the concept. BRANDON SANDERSON SENT IT?! I have seen his work everywhere online. But only wytppl and cismen review his work. So I am excited to hear what you think. I personally can't justify reading his work first before I finish The Broken Earth and Inheritance trilogies by NK Jemison. I really want to focus on Black authors with Black characters. And I don't know if Mistborn has POC or LGBTQ rep. I really look forward to hearing your reviews. I am interesting in writing fantasy books, so I planned to study more mainstream and successful writers. But ehhhhh. I also...don't have patience. Like it has to have poc in it.
