The M/VB John H. MacMillan, Jr.pushing 40 barges northbound Mississippi River just north of the confluence of the Kaskaskia River. Wind was kicking up pretty good and I did not realize I had the attention of so many on the boat!

Are the wing wires red for 20-30ft. back from the tow? Have not noticed this before.

That's chafing gear(old hose) put on the Kevlar to prevent it wearing out on the pinch points. In the early 90s when Kevlar cord was first used on the river,boats would snap their face wires & lose their barges or the whole mess would go out of control. Kevlar is lighter than steel & can be moved much more easily by fewer people than steel face wires.

You should buy a VHF radio and call the boat on traffic. Which is 67. And let them know what you're doing because that looks sketchy. someone might call the coast guard or Department of homeland security on you. They're supposed to report suspicious activity. But love the video man!

Well I have droned the Coast Guard and have had a Captain tell me to fly closer. I think people realize when they see it that it's a camera and not a threat. Thanks!
