Okay, if I were Shakespeare, I wouldn't have wasted my time on Romeo & Juliet romantic stuff. Nope, I would have been writing an ode to the Box Fan. Mind you box fans weren't invented back then, but Shakespeare was ahead of his time so that's no excuse. I would have written glorious iambic pentameter, extolling the virtues of white noise and how it helps one sleep all night long. But, I'm not Shakespeare and he was too busy cranking out Hamlet and probably behind on his bills since writers are always underpaid. I'm sure he would have appreciated a good box fan sound, though, and I hope you do as well. Let me know what you think in the comments :)

I sleep with a real box fan already. Everyone in my family does. I discovered in my very first night in my very first apartment, many years ago, that a box fan is a NECESSITY for getting sleep. It drowns out slamming doors and other outside sounds. Sometimes, I need the air but I have one mostly for noise. I cannot sleep in quiet. Ever.

Back in the late 60's when I was an infant, we had ZERO A/C, so we had box fans. I have slept with a box fan running beside me since I was a baby. I cannot imagine sleeping without one. Its the most relaxing/soothing sound there is. This is the best video of fan noise I have come across. BRAVO!

Boy.....I've been listening to fan's longer than most of you kiddos have been alive. I starded listening to fan's just after the war ended I'm talking World War II. I'll never forget the day I set eyes on her it was a Mastercraft 1000j one of the most expensive and stylish fan's of its day. I was only 14 at the time but its classic "Spider-Web" design with polished aluminum blades and a chrome plated rear bullet had me smitten. This one was a real beaut and it gave off a nice low-pitch humming noise that was perfect for sleeping. I loved fan's with their stylish designs and their handcrafted elegance not to mention the array of different models. My passion would lead me to work in the field as a assembly technician and I would go on to own over a 1000 different fans and collect of over a 100 antique models from all over the world. The craftsmanship of fans was lost long ago, now there all made of cheap plastic manufactured in China. I've been in the "fan game" long enough to know the difference. In fact I think the orginal box fan was created upon my request by Bersted Mfg. because I wanted a fan that could fit directly in my window and bring in fresh air. Even tho the quality haa declined some of the newer models do give off a soothing mid-level hum that is gentle on the ears and great for relaxation😊. Well speaking of "relaxation" its getting late and this ole Geezer needs his shuteye. The wife won't let me run the fan in the cool months so I settle for KZbin (the next best thing) and call it a night. 🤗 💤

I used to listen to this coming home from a 15 hour shift everyday. Couldn't sleep without it. Now I'm disabled and use it for my dialysis appointments. This is very nostalgic for me. My family and I moved to where we are now when I was four, so I remember very little about our first house. But I do remember we had one of these giant things stuck in one of the windows. I remember tapping on the plastic, and the whirring sounds it would make. I even remember the smell of the room and the dust that would collect on the outside. I can still picture it in the window, and how it seemed so high up. Bright, comfy memories. Thank you for this.

I remember when I was little. My family traveled in a 1970s van. I used to curl up to the air vent next to the engine cover. The sound of the engine and the air through the vent would put me to sleep in no time flat. Now that I'm older I love having the fan blowing on me from my night stand as I snuggle into the blankets. It definitely puts me in my happy place for sleeping. I also love laying down for a nap next to a running vacuum. If, it blows the hot air towards me, I'll pass out for a nice quick nap. Good times. 👍

My fan broke, I use it 24/7 365 days a year for as long as I remember. When I dont hear it, the world sounds so loud, quiet is loud for me. So this fan isn't all clunky sounding. It’s not obnoxious. It's smooth enough to get me through this giant amount of anxiety I have until I can get a new fan. 😢❤
