My hybrid pantorouter is the gift that keeps on giving!

Yep, mine too. It's by far the most fun tool in my shop.

A major advantage to this jig over many others is there is no limit to the width and length of the panel you are making the joint on. Even with a standard router table you can be limited due to a large panel being too unwieldy to stand on end and move across the bit. With a couple of extra support stands on either side and/or behind the PantoRouter table the only limit is the size of panel you're willing to move to index it on the pin. I've used my PantoRouter to edge bore 3/4" x 2' x 4' panels for knock down hardware which would only be feasible otherwise with a slow and tedious doweling jig and hand drill or an expensive Festool Domino which has almost no versatility compared to the PantoRouter.

Very good point! You could make them really thick too.

So, the thickness of the inside board needs to be greater than the depth of the box joint, correct? You said 3/4" thick and your tails are 1/2"? If I'm using 3/4" tails just do say 1" thick board? Thanks!

You can use dissimilar boards but size the depth of cut (length of the finger) to the mating board thickness...plus a smidge. Let us know if you still have questions and we're happy to chat with you more about this.

This works great for box joints as wide as the router bit. How can I do very wide box joint like 30 millimetres?

We have a video titled "Box Joints Of Any Size" on our channel. Please check it out and let us know how we can help.

There seems to be no end to the awesomeness of this machine. I am not understanding how you adjusted the fit. I see how you micro adjusted the template, that was slick using a screw! But wouldn't the spacing be the same just offset? Oh shoot... now I get it. The cutaway is set with the bit but the finger was made wider. Very slick indeed.

I meant narrower... had to rewatch.

I'm going to use my pantorouter to engrave a name or initials in a few cutting boards when I finish them. I'm thinking of using those old magnetic alphabet fridges magnets as templates(my thought isflip then upside down and glue them to a board that mounts to the template holder. I don't have any currently so I'll have to find some. It anyone has a different idea I'd love to hear it. Thank you.

I think I recall Matthias doing something like this on his channel woodgears.ca

Hello Mac! Will you be offering plans for this jig at some point?

I'll post the SketchUp drawing on our website, but really there's nothing too special about it other than the use of the mortise and tenon to set the index pin.
