You have to right click and time it right depending on the weapon that hit your longswords impact power , less impact power = tighter window to right click.

Yes, exactly that! There are some good videos on youtube to teach you the basic for PvE and PvP, but it all comes down to practice.

I *disagree with the take that the new fighter perk is trash. The shorter riposte window is just a skill issue and just need to condition yourself to press block again on the longsword block sound. If anything, being forced to increase your riposte speed improves your lethality with it anyways. It also feels much safer to go for ripostes on barbs with our high impact resistance parries.

I disagree that it's a skill issue. I'm pretty consistent with rapier ripostes and even if I hit 100% of them, being able to delay the riposte is sometimes needed to have it connect. For sure vs certain weapons it's better, but I think in 80% of parry situations you are nerfing yourself if you run it.

@@sly_sense I think rapiers will still be under the "light block" timing, so no difference, but that timing will be applied to most weapons and mobs, so using the perk will cut your PvE parry distance in half. I completely agree it's better vs heavy impact weapons, but outside of falchion fights, I can't see it being too useful. Slayer and PDR fighter looks like it could become meta in solos so we will have to wait and see. Keep me posted on your experience with it mate!

Is it that bad with sword mastery? I mean it will not be bad than you are parrying the person you are fighting not the mobs isnt it? 5% action speed and 2 weap d is like really huge

It's bad in most cases, yes. It's good vs zweihander, but the shorter riposte window feels terrible to play with vs basically everything else.

It's not bad if you can reposte rapiers fairly consistently without it. I'm reposting everything I normally do, but I haven't gotten to try against rapier/dagger yet which is usually a gamble anyway. Being able to stop falchion combo with 4 block power is nice.
