I have a feeling a lot of F2P have no idea what the squire is and that he can provide a longsword for free. I would've definitley made note of that at the intro of the video, or even just make a comment down here about it and pin it. Overall, great video Oggie! I pray us longsword bros get more love at some point with later updates on the hitbox : |

Thanks for the re-work on the parry guide! You've helped me learn a lot about the mechanics and how get consistent parries. I think you're a bit static when it comes to some of the PvE parries. Not on all the mobs but the skeleton champion and footman can be parried easier when side stepping and trying to a parry at a more 45 degree angle. I can pretty consistently catch the champs thrust when side stepping to my left and poking the tip of the sword along the path he's going to stab. I saw you pull it off towards the end of the fight and when practiced its pretty consistent. Love the content man! You do awesome work! You're one of the people inspiring me to start making content of my own. Have fun in the dungeons brother!
@oggieson5 ай бұрын
This is just a base line for most new players for sure. I stay static through a lot of the mobs currently because there seems to be hit box issues whenever you're moving. Tho, it's more prominent with ice mobs I've noticed. Showed it on stream last night. But if it works for you full send however you're parrying buddy!

Great work, Oggieson! I would recommend putting timestamps on these monsters so people can easily select the ones they're having problems with. I find it easier to remember where the tip of the longsword should be, rather than where the crosshair should be. Especially when you want to be turned left, because you can precisely say "aim the tip of the sword at the skeleton's neck" instead of "look about one skeleton width to the left and one skull over his head".

On the skeleton guardsman tand footman for the overhead parry, I have found the most reliable way to parry is to move slightly to the left and aim a little to the right and up, and you should be consistent

Hmm I don’t think anyone at Ironmace watches these lol. They only have a couple English speakers on the team as it is and one of them is the ceo and he definitely doesn’t watch xD. I think their team is still just a bit too small to catch everything. I also think some of this was rushed out with less polish than usual because of the steam/epic release they pushed for

@@oggieson Perhaps they're too busy with the circumstances -- but they have stated in the last few patches they have an interest in adding skill expression to melee combat so I imagine this is solidly relevant to what they want to accomplish in that regard. The axe hitboxes seem fine to me cause it looks like you have to hit the axe head and not the shaft, which makes sense cause the blade extends further towards your body, plus axes are heavy and there is a certain amount of give to such a parry, at least IRL.

Firstly im bad at this. That said, I instinctively want to crouch while blocking to make my hit box smaller, ALWAYS, for both PvE and PvP. I do realize this puts my head in additional danger. Should i break this habit? Also the damage buff post parry. Is this on a timer? Is it used on the first swing or first hit during this timer? Can you proc it more than once?
@oggieson6 ай бұрын
@@brooksybaby03 there are some reliable PvE parry positions from crouching. I often crouch parry in PvP as well tho it’s never to make the hitbox smaller but to catch enemies attacking low or to change the angle of our combat to allow for the longsword blade angle to benefit my parry attempt with the different spacing crouching provides. Nothing wrong with crouch parrying tho you don’t need it in every fight/against every attack

@oggieson6 ай бұрын
Yes it speeds up clears immensely. PvE clears are longsword best attribute. Which is kinda sad when you consider how easy pve is really lol. Riposte attacks carry a 1.875 modifier with no sour spot damage on the attacks. The base attack chain is 1.0 1.05 and 1.10 modifiers and have up to a 40% penalty on sour spot damage

I assume longsword doesn't have hitbox near the hilt of the blade. I might think that longsword has same block hitbox size about quarterstaff, so why longsword has no block hitbox near tip of the blade and near the hilt. I assume this out since playtest 4. And I always tried to catch where the centre aim icon placed.

In normals I’ve been running shield mastery, sword mastery, counter attack, and weapon mastery. This is what I’d likely run with gear as well, possibly swapping out counter attack with defensive expert or barricade depending on my kit for duos. Trios I haven’t played this wipe but likely leaning toward something like the same build for duos. Possibly dropping both counter attack and sword mastery for defense expert and barricade for more survivability in melee as long as I get action speed above 10% through my kit
