‘Boxing can help curb violence in schools’ - Dr Lola Cunningham

APRIL 23, 2024: Boxing may be viewed by some people as a barbaric sport, but for Dr Lola Cunningham it can be a helpful tool to curb crime and violence among students and as an alternative to work off their pent-up anger if it is introduced in schools.
Cunningham, owner of the Lola Cunningham Foundation, aims to provide traditional boxing training, self-defence and the use of heavy punching bags as a means of anger management.

I am a train Jamaican amateur boxer with the record of 2 gold and 2 silver medals, I was training with my coach Sakima Mulling for the past 4 years, Boxing is not just a sport to me but a way of life, the sport teaches you discipline, self confidence, self control, respect, constructive/critical thinking and technique, time management , and self awareness, Continuing a career in the field of boxing will not only continue to enhance the quality of my life but for the future generations to come.

Good morning, not at all no boxing in schools, this is a going to turn bad, more prayer in school, more children need to go to sabbath or Sunday school. Exercise is good

I like the boxing. I understand the underlying concept. But you can't go wrong with Sabbath/Sunday School, the current generation is lost, no moral compass. Very sad 😔

I don’t fully agree with you because Jamaica has the most church and prayer warriors and look how much criminal activity is going on in Jamaica, and boxing is teaching you a lot of things same has the sabbath or Sunday school are even more

Interesting initiative. In fact basic self-defense should probably be a part of the PE program. Kids now have never been more vulnerable, lots of predators on the streets

This has a value somewhat. It's interesting to realize that Jamaicans are always behind the bus. Where are the children that are encouraged to get into computer making, farming [we all eat food] manufacturing, and for Jamaican to start producing things? It is always about children to develop themselves and not expect to contribute to society. We also need to emphasize nation-building.

Yes it is,but it requires a high level of discipline. clean boxing.it's a difference between boxing and fighting.
