Vasyl Lomachenko has to be regarded as one of the greatest and skilful boxing champions in the last 10 years. The Ukrainian’s training routine and unorthodox techniques have definitely played a part in him reaching the pinnacle of the sport. In this video I look at some of Lomachenko’s training routines including boxing drills, strength and conditioning, mental drills and nutrition.

A quick note about the breath holds. This helps build your endurance by increasing your ability to deal with the build up of lactic acid and increasing your body's ability to perform when it's gasping for oxygen. It's been shown to have thr same benefits as training at high altitude

As a spearfisherman from hawaii and ex amatuer boxer. I think the diving and breathholding during a 6 hr spearfishing session i managed 7 minutes with no movement. Remember moving or using your muscles burns oxygen so the less you move the longer you can hold your breath. Thats why we used weight belts as well. Helped us get to tge bottom with minimal movement. I feel thats what helped me in boxing. I hated running so never implemented it into my gym routine.
@demonitized1020

It was mentioned in another comment. But breath holding during swimming or diving has been shown to be extremely effective to increase cardio. Mainly because it trains your body to process lactic acids that builds up. And also it trains your body to continue working when you begin to run low on oxygen.

That means it might be easier to knock him out cause of the damage done, also causes more damage than you will already take from all the hard sparring and fights, so it's unnecessary to stay till passing out and STUPID. Thank you for the video. I love his routine with the reflex ball.
@MDMAx
@MDMAx Жыл бұрын
8:30 bought a few reflex balls 2 years back after watching Loma do it. I might not ever be a champ, but having passed 180 hours of practice time I believe in my ability to land a punch if needed compared to someone who hasn't done it for as long. Definitely adds to boldness and sense of safety. It's also a good cardio. I jump as if with a skipping rope while throwing hands at the ball. Sometimes try to do a drum-step while punching. Moreover, you don't do the same punch every time like on a punching bag. The ball jumps around unpredictably. Hence, I think I've learned to somewhat adapt to "new situations" and some simple footwork along the way. I'd advise to buy plastic workers glasses as well and wear them during the practice. The string stores all your punching energy and on a compression releases the string as a projectile at your face. It slaps your eyes a lot. And after repairing the string enough times it becomes too short. With some other strings attached to the original string in order to increase the range of motion of the ball, the slap frequency will increase 2fold. I've given up on adding strings after 4. Then the ball has no flexibility and it basically becomes a string with 4 or 5 knots that absorb your punches.

Schuletrip. I too am a massive Lomachenko fan. First became aware of him during the 2008 Olympics. When you look at the first twelve opponents that Lomachenko fought to win three belts at three different weights, the level of opposition is off the charts. I’m not dissing Floyd, but look at his first twelve opponents. Due to the Floyd effect we have this stasis in the lightweight division, which is in danger of turning into a zombie division with all talk and social media crap. All these young guys are scared to lose their unbeaten record. Cheers mate.

To me as a former boxer "unfortunately I suffer a ocular retina displacement " (sorry I I wrote this wrong I'm not English), I suffer this in my 2° pro fight and my career as a boxer ended! But like I was saying, Loma "no mas" or the "matrix" is a prodigy, he is that kind of person who was the lucky to find that is gifted for boxing. Because I believe everyone as a gift, but unfortunately 99% of people don't know what is and others who knows don't have the possibility to take advantage of is gifted talent! To me Loma represents the perfection of boxing, in the last 100 years no boxer managed to show so amazing talent! Is my personal opinion, and I love Ali, Mike Tyson, Tyson Fury, Canelo Alvarez..... a lot of amazing talented boxers, but no one at the level of Lomachenko, he is special inside the ringue. 👊👊👊👊👊💯👍👌

working with breath exercises is very interesting stuff. It is a confidence booster and it really makes you face that fear of death. My record is 3.5 minutes, i dont do it underwater and i have actually passed out a handful of times. It takes you past the point of no return or that feeling that you just can't do anymore, and then all of a sudden you get a grip and you somehow find the strength and willpower to hold your breath for another minute. It is an amazing feeling.

First, I love that he does mine drills, some athletes don't think it's important. Second, it seems that he is going to be open-minded to other martial arts like wrestling or Jiu-Jitsu one day. If you ever does, he's going to be a fucking beast but I'm only 2 minutes in

I attribute it to years of running on hard ground. Also, at the time, I wore expensive training shoes for fashion, not so much for boxing training and running. Which, in retrospect, that was stuoid of me.

I imagine that it would help a lot, if only as a means of distracting the mind from concentrating on how physically exhausted you are. I used to go on long walks, sometimes 32 miles (51 kilometers,) in a day, and I believe there were two things that helped me do this: 1. The perspective of "it's not 25 more miles to go, it's 10 miles walked and closer to a goal." 2. Maintaining a marching rhythm in my head as I went along. Having a song stuck in my head helped me out a lot.

What makes Inoue, Lomachenko, and Canelo the greatest fighters in the world today is the devotion these boxers have for perfection. All three men seem to live by the motto that boxing is life for them. Champions like these guys have no offseason. They train and hone the skills of their craft incessantly, and seem to have little interest in anything else in the world other than perfecting their skills and elevating their talents to higher and higher levels. You just don't see that so much anymore. Other guys will win a championship fight and spend the next 12 months celebrating and partying. That's why those 3 boxers stand head and shoulders above nearly everyone else. Their dedication to the craft and self-discipline is on full display any time they fight.
