I fell asleep watching a vid last night and woke up to fast Eddie talking about how "of course we want the wilder fight before povetkin." I was thinking what s going on here and when exited the video see it moved on to one from 2018. Tell me, how did that work out? He has alot of positives like great exposure for fighters and big fights but alot of negatives like biased productions, diluted pay per views leading to a higher pay bracket for actual ppv events. Every fresh idea like prizefighter is milked until there is nothing left for fans to enjoy. He has also brought alot of casuals into boxing which I'm not sure if it's a good or bad thing. One things for sure, he could sell sand to an Arab, Ice to an Eskimo and even water to the ocean.

Promoter dictates the ring size, crowd size, seating allocations etc. This won’t be in the fight contracts . Good example would be AJ rematch vs Ruiz , the custom ring was built 22ft (4ft bigger than usual) at the Saudi venue, obviously oil barons and Arab royalty isn’t preemptively aware of AJ’s new game plan to fight on the outside right? Of course not it was the promoter that dictated the ring size to protect his fighter...

A 22 x 22 foot ring vs a 20 x 20 foot ring is an extra 84 square feet, so it’s 20% larger by area than a 20 x 20 foot ring. It adds an additional 160 square feet over an 18 x 18 foot ring, so a 22 x 22 foot ring is almost 50% larger by area than an 18 x 18 foot ring. This is actually Canelo's fault. The original ring Canelo insisted on was 18ft, not 20ft as Hearn claims above. This was Canelo's negotiating ploy to end up with a 20ft ring. It backfired on Canelo because Billy Joe used Canelo's ploy against him (very successfully) and ended up having Canelo agree to a 22ft ring. A larger ring favors the boxer with greater footwork and that presumably is Saunders. I do wish Hearn and others would be more specific about the ring size because a 24ft ring is very standard and has an 18in to 2ft apron so the boxing area is around 20ft to 21ft. This is the size of the MGM Arena Las Vegas ring that has been the ring for so many Super Fights since 2010. So if Canelo and Saunders finally agreed to a 22ft ring is that the boxing area or the full size including an 18in to 2ft apron? Anyway, BJS appears to have won this battle. Looking forward to the war on Saturday night.
