So true, the legacy is not just the champions. He gave kids, adults structure discipline and drive to succeed. Qualities that have made them all better people.

I will never ever forget this man,as a 9 year old boy in the hight of the naz craze I became obsessed with boxing but especially naz,my granddads work mate at the time lived at the bottom of winkerbank rite next the the famous gym that Brendon built,so my grandads friend mentioned it to Brendon in passing and Brendon said he’s welcome to come whenever he wants to meet the prince, ile never forget that day I left school and me and my dad flew over to Sheffield to meet the prince I couldn’t wait!!! We arrived and at the time naz was being interviewed by sky sports about a up coming fight down at the arena so Brendon said it’s ok son you come with me I’ve got something for you.....2 tickets to the up coming fight,a pair of gloves signed by everyone in the gym and signed magazine that naz was on the front cover.wow I was over the moon !!!.......... I did eventually get to meet naz and at that time he was a top guy and was my idol I was over the moon!!!!!! .........that was 24 years ago and ile never forget meeting naz but the thing that stuck with me most of all was not naz at all it was how kind and generous Brendon was to a kid he had never met or knew nothing about and that will stay with me forever....... Brendon ingle rest In Piece my friend thank you .Guy.

Nice clip. I have been watching British boxing avidly for over 20 years now and the amount of guys who cite Naseem Hamed as their early inspiration is astounding! I personally think his impact on the popularity of the sport (built on by Hatton) is the main reason British boxing had it explosion over the last 10 years. Naseem brought the talent, but Ingle has to be credited with overlooking such an amazing and exciting movement on the 90s. Indirectly Ingle can be credited with everything you see now including sell out Wembley shows and the increased number of British world champions. Legend of the sport

This is what makes me proud to be British. This is what true Britain is about. As a young kid with Pakistani heritage I used to watch boxing with my father. Saw Prince Nas come up the ranks and alot of others. Those late night live boxing matches. Just goes to show what a huge diverse family we are. RIP Brendan.

''I don't succeed when I make a guy or help a guy become champion of the world, I succeed when I make that fellow become champion of the world and independent of me. As well as (becoming) independent of me, I have succeeded, he has succeeded when he has turned champion, I have succeeded when he doesn't need me anymore I have succeeded when I have made him dependable.'' -Cus D'Amato - Gay Talese said he believed that Cus sensed that there was something beyond just winning, it's called living, beyond your days as a performer. And he thinks that was a quality he appreciated the most. Brendan Ingle, Emmanuel Stewart, and Jack Blackburn all believed the same thing as Cus D'Amato that there was something beyond just winning, it's called living, beyond your days as a performer. By helping their fighters become dependable and stand on their own two feet.
