Yes and Ruiz was one of the last fights they would have wanted. Interestingly, the reason Ruiz was available and in shape to fight is because he'd just utterly dismantled Dmetrov who, coincidentally, was nearly the same size and even style as AJ. Ruiz was so dominant he had little to no 'recovery' needed other htan maybe to let his knuckles cool down. Contrary to narratives, Ruiz was very highly respected in the division, a very well known Top 10 entrant with very high regard. He was the most dangerous threat to AJ out of the 5 possible last hour replacements. Say whatever anyone wants about AJ but he gets all the credit in the world that he has always always taken whatever is the biggest fight available as soon as it could be made, whoever was mandatory and/or the biggest challenger.

If Joshua hits Dubois he hurts him. If Dubois hits Joshua it's good night. that isn't bias toward Dubois it's about ability to take a punch; Dubois has been hit heard in most of his fights and his chin hasn't let him down, Joshua gets wobbled every time he take a crack on the chin. that's just fact. If Dubois can slip past Joshua jab and goes to the body for a few rounds he softens Joshua up. Dubois is a thick solid tree trunck of meat: thick legs, thick waist, thick neck. You look at Joshuas tiny waist, thin calfs - you can see naturally he's a slim guy. If he stopped lifting weights he'd be Deontay Wilder skinny. Dubois needs to rip body shots for a few rounds and then go to the head, if he does that he wins. If he tries to get into a jabbing war with Joshua then joshua will be quite happy to cruise to a points win like he did with Ruiz in their rematch. Joshua is almost 35 and possibly one fight away from fighting fury or usyk: he's not going to get into a shoot out with possibly the hardest puncher in the division if he doesn't have to. So Dubois has to drag joshua into a shoot out.

really good points, AJ has always been a bit suspect when hit, we also do not know how hard AJ does hit as he couldnt hurt Usyk in both fights and he hasnt fought a live opponent since Usyk. Dubois is battle hardened now 2 very hard fights, came through with flying colours Franklyn, Helenius, Wallin & Ngannou are hardly opponents to gauge where he is, for me this is a real 50/50, rewatching the Duboi vs Hergovic fight, he got hit so much by Hergovic he cant do that with Joshua and has to take the space away and move his head, its gonna be a great fight as long as it last.

Personally, i think AJ will be cautious & try to box....he could afford to be aggressive against the 0-1 novice, FN, but he knows if DD touches his whiskers, he's going rubber legged. I think DD's team will expect AJ to look to box & move, jabbing to set up a right hand or draw DD onto a counter, but regardless, i think DD will fight as he always does & move forward.....if he can keep AJ backed up on the ropes, he can open up & cause AJ to feel reluctant to engage....as we know, AJ is prone to gassing out when the pace is high & if they are still fighting midway through, DD might just find the chin of an arm-weary AJ. Or, of course, either of them could get KO'd in quick time.

@@fallendbb I'm putting my money on DDD, other than DDD being caught cold & ko'd in the 1st/2nd round when AJ will be convinced that he is godlike, i can't make a case for AJ......if AJ doesn't land big & quickly, he'll soon feel the power of DDD's jab & default to his post-ruiz, anxiety which involves a reluctance to engage, a lack of offense & a strategy that is focused on the opportunity to land a counter. AJ has only agreed to fight DDD for the sole reason that DDD holds a world title & he thinks that if he regains a world title, he can start dictating again & negotiate himself out of fighting Fury & if, as he & other people, speculate, Usyk loses interest in the HW, he can pick & choose his opponents, lobbying the alphabet boys to populate their top 10 ratings with undeserving fighters.
