Not that he cared about the money but that's what Ana says in the book.

She was stressed, terrified slapped then punched in the face then booted in the abdomen so hard it lifted her up and flipped her over. getting punched in the head can knock a person out. getting hit in the stomach the way she was can easily render a person unconscious. especially if she was caught in the solar plexus which is in your abdomen.
