MY MISTAKE😂 On the website FAQ it keeps saying things like "what to expect when they merge mid-march" so I got super confused! The being rant still holds though because I think the way they are doing everything is super confusing! I would have preferred they did away with Boxycharm altogether and just improved the Ipsy bags. Color changing lip products use the dye Red 27. Its specific formulation allows it to be colorless when dissolved in a waterless base. The dye acts a bit like litmus paper. Lips have a higher pH than the lipstick, which triggers a chemical reaction that converts the acids into a strongly coloured compound. Red 27 is a bright pinkish red, and when mixed with the base color (i.e. green) determines the final color. The more you know 🌠

This is so interesting! I'm definitely under the impression that it's a bit of a swizz though. Surely the PH of skin doesn't vary that significantly from person to person, does it? And also, is the PH at all linked to your skin tone? So just because it adjusts to your PH doesn't mean it will adjust to a colour that suits you any better than a product that doesn't change colour. Is that right? Or am I missing the magic here?

@@emilyirisbowen9169 skin pH is not linked to skin tone; it is usually around 4.7. The oil your body produces causes the pH to be so acid, which is needed to kill bacteria.

There are other colors, too! I have a lip oil that’s slightly yellow and turns to a very light orange when applied… I hate the color the pink ones turn on me, so I loved this yellow-to-orange one!!! Also, they tend to stain a little bit, so user beware!

Hey Alexandria! There's a KZbinr named Katrina whose channel is called SubBoxLover. I believe she said that things would be rebranded and fully merged in April! So March should still be the same. The changes don't go into effect until the April boxes. If you had Ipsy plus and boxy base, you'll now have one box- boxycharm by Ipsy. If you had premium you have the option of adding boost to your boxycharm by Ipsy. But it will no longer be two different boxes unless you have multiple profiles. If you have Ipsy X and boxy luxe, you'll now have one box- icon box. So if you have all subscription tiers, as of March- six of them, it will now be condensed to 3. Ipsy glambag, Boxycharm by Ipsy plus boost, and Icon box quarterly.

Okay so the merger: Ipsy Glam Bag is staying the same. Boxycharm Base and Ipsy Plus are combining under the name Boxycharm. You'll be able to pick 3 of your products like with plus. Boxycharm Premium will now be Boxycharm plus the Beauty Boost that members have been able to opt in to to get an extra product for an extra $15 a month. BoxyLuxe and Ipsy X are combining into the Icon Box. They will be on the same months that X was. Everything under Boxycharm says new location because everything will be under Ipsy now. We will have a drop shop like Boxy had. I think they are combining to avoid all of the recent repeats and crossover products we've been having.

20:19 I know why the color changes! In most color changing lip gloss, they have compounds in them that change color from the heat and/or pH (acidity) of your skin. This formula is actually different! It has all the pigment already in it for the blush color (prickly pear extract, turmeric extract, eggplant extract, and a type of red algae) which deposits a sheer reddish/purplish color on the skin. The cool thing is the green! It actually has Neem leaf extract in it (a great antioxidant that's bright green) that dissolves into your skin when you apply it! So it isn't so much as color changing as it is your skin absorbing the green product and leaving the rest of the color visible! That's why you shouldn't leave it in the sunlight - the green pigment is the compound that photosynthesizes light!

I do like your idea but unfortunately these days $25/month isn't going to get you potentially even 1 product (depending on where your shop - drug store vs sephora) hence the "value" found with all the subscription boxes. But at least you can pick out something you like within that price so that is a plus in that regard ❤

@@geniej2378 and the best part is if you don't like something you bought, most stores let you return it! Target, Ulta, Sephora...they all allow returns so long as most of the product is still there. Sometimes I get myself something high end, like the Charlotte Tilbury blush (OMG 😍), but sometimes it's Maybelline or L'Oreal or elf. 😊 I love the freedom my choice gave me, and now I don't feel like I'm hoarding a bunch of makeup and skincare that I'll never use, secretly hoping for a family or friend to want it lol. I only keep around what I love and use. 🥰

So my Glam Bag Plus was supposed to ship out March 9th- I got worried I say around 18th when it didn't move - Ipsy said just wait it out and soon it will come. It shipped on the 27th just got it today the 30th. Guess what - a product was missing (wow) Ipsy gave me $6 and 1200 points- As I feel like they knew it wasn't there. These products were not new. Oh my god thank you for saying this! I basically went from 5 bags/boxes to 3. I guess that's ok since I'm overloaded. I wasn't that thrilled with this month's choices or add-ons either. Power Picks was ok but I got all skincare. Only make up offering was the color corrector and Bobby Brown shadow stick which I already got from Boxy twice. Sooo, with a few exceptions, it was all repeats for me. Hopefully, May Icon will be better but I won't hold my breath.

Yes you can use straight up yogurt on your skin and hair. It is fabulous The reactions I've seen for the merge has been pretty consistent. Boxy people (me) were at best skeptical or unhappy about what this is going to change. Ipsy people seem a lot more optimistic I guess we will see but if my boxy turns into a bunch of ipsy brand baloney and stuff that isn't the right color I guess I will give it up

Now that I have been in to make my choices I am less confused and super excited for my box to come. I had Boxy Premium previously. When I went in to make my choices it told me the 2 products they chose ...Drybar dry shampoo and translucent setting powder...not mad at this at all. The beauty boost they chose was an eye cream but it let me switch this to an elemis resurface and refine set so I actually got to choose 4 of my products and chose all makeup for my other 3 choices and all the makeup items were brands I knew of Fenty, KAB. Then in add ons I was also able to add on a Natasha Denona Palette and Supergoop Sunscreen oil. This is honestly going to be the best box I have ever received as I will use everything, got to pick 4 out of 6 items, and it is all higher end familiar brands.

Used to be worth getting and the deals and brands were top of the line now they are putting WET-N-WILD products in our boxes along with several other brands that should t be in those boxes! Alex, look at the spelling on the toner ingredients. They're the English and French spellings on separate lines like the product type was! Lip treatment is just something that is more results focused and gloss is something more fashion focused. So treatment can be used any time it just might not be as shiny or colored.

Hey, i dont know why people have not realized that boxy and ipsy been merged well over a year and 8 months ago! I’ve been getting Ipsy pink bubble bags in place of my boxycharm boxes for my drop-shop orders for over a year. When Boxy introduced the “refreshments” subscription on boxycharm, the merger has already been in effect 6 months prior. They decided not to fully announced the merger to everyone till they figured out if they wanted to keep the two businesses separated or not or if it’s more financial beneficial to merge. I guess it’s the latter! I have people that work for the boxy Florida office who have been talking about the merger 2 years back and how their checks now state ipsy! Boxycharm is eventually gonna be non-existent in due time!

The Grown Alchemist product has “Rose, Ginseng and Chamomile” in both English and French. They’re just spelled almost exactly the same (Camomille, I believe, being the only difference) so it’s not actually written twice, just in different languages. 🙂

Yeah it all looks the same to me, at least by what I read. What I read about what's starting in April stl seems the same to me, I guess I'll have to wait and see what you get. All I can see that's different and "merged together" is both ipsy and boxycharm are under ipsy's website.

That mask is EVERYTHING! I use it as a sleeping mask, as a go to all in one skin care moisturizer it's phenomenal! That said, I literally got the exact same things in my Boxy Base this month. The blush applies beautifully with a wet beauty blender.

..I got an email saying I couldn’t get my choices for February which was the Taupe ABH brow gel.. 🙄 yet you get one and don’t even wear taupe! I also got an expired eyeshadow palette! Has the expiration date right on the palette. I’m giving April one last month before o cancel all of it. And with premium being boxycharm with boost.. you’re paying like $15 for one more item.. and I didn’t want the boost this month but it wouldn’t let me choose my items without taking it. At the very end of my rope!

Do you go in and make your choices or just let them surprise you? The 2nd-3rd of each month you can choose 3 items that are going to be in your box.

I can't even get my box because I got paid Saturday at midnight and because they couldn't charge my card. I always could just update it and get my box but now it skips a month if I'm a little late. Not even a day.

All of the bags you opened were from Ipsy March before the official merge. I was worried before too but the new boxes don't show up till April. Also if you got say both the base box and the ipsy Glam Bag Plus you will only get one BoxyCharm box in April or if you get ipsy Glam Bag Plus, base box and premium you will get one BoxyCharm box with boost. I will be interested to see choice coming up.

This super confusing merging situation is why I'm only keeping my subscription for one last month. If they leave it messy I'm dropping it. I do like Boxycharm over Ipsy and they said the official changeover is in April. I'm pretty sure they delayed it more. My Ipsy Plus was in the exact same bag; they showed like a tie dye greek bag that I actually wanted. Smashbox used to have something like the YouthForia blush and they had a lip gloss too. I think it was like O Gloss and O Blush.

For each email account they will combine your boxes. If you have a glam bag plus and a boxycharm account, they will combine into 1 boxycharm box. The boxycharm premium turns into a boxycharm box with a boost product. Look at your ipsy accounts now, and you will see how they combined your boxes. March is still the separate ipsy and boxycharm boxes still. The merge goes into effect with the April boxes. You can make your choices April 2nd and 3rd. Hope this helps! 😊
