Ella back in 93 when I came back from europe was a 1 guesthouse town..by abt 96 was frequented by backpackers as they started moving away from unawatuna in the south..& now its a very touristic town ..' guess most european folk like the climate as its the typical european summer all through out the year..

Indian help ( or Aid) is always tagged. It's not genuine help. India always take back something more valuable in return. That's not help. That's called opportunist. India government will.never allow Sri Lanka to develop. Modi prefers the present Rajapaksha government because Rajapaksha agrees to sell vital assets to India as if it's his family legacy. So Modi will give dollars as Aid and buy Sri Lanka slowly for a cheap price. At present Modi controls fuel supplies to Sri Lanka. If you control. Fuel you control the economy isn't it..? This is what Modi called Help?? Ordinary Indian guys don't understand what Modi has in mind. Not only Modi. This is Indian foreign policy. Indian people are genuine good people but the Indian government is set to bully it's smaller neighbours.

It seems you missed most of the best tourist attractions in Ella. You are leaving Ella, which means you didn't visit Little Adams Peak, the 9-arched bridge & Ella Rock. Those places are the most popular destinations here. You must visit those places. Because those places are better tourist attractions than the places you already visited in Sri Lanka. Travelers come here to see those places. not only for train journeys.

I know I'm not the only one to notice brotha Marwa but to me the Sri Lankan people seem to be far more hospitable and accommadating in general than the people of main land India.
