FOR ANYONE WANTING THE FULL STORY: Before Caleb was on the ride, the riders before him claimed the seatbelts were having issues. The ride continued to run. Caleb and his older brother wanted to ride together but the weights combined were not enough. His older brother rode first and waited at the bottom for Caleb to come down. His seatbelt came loose and he flew out of the ride, hitting the steel beams that held up the safety netting and decapitated him (breaking his neck in the process obviously). His older brother witnessed it all and began breaking down in hysterics. Reportedly, he instantly began screaming at the workers blaming the ride and repeating that he had to watch his little brother die. Fellow riders rushed to help but there was nothing that could be done. Had the park shut down the ride when it began having issues like responsible parks should, this would have been avoided. All respect for the family, just wanted to clear up questions.

jayhawk anonymous Feel free to research it yourself, you'll find I'm correct. This ride in particular has had issues with the seatbelts and dummies even flying out of the seats since it was established. Previous riders before Caleb DID complain about broken belts. I've yet to ride a ride that doesn't allow you to fix things until you meet the requirements. It's not "my" version, it's what's been reported by the staff (how caleb's brother reacted, how caleb flew out and how he died) It's also been confirmed how he died (decapitation) and witnesses have confirmed the stories as well. Way to get salty on youtube.

jayhawk anonymous Sandbags are considered dummies. It's an object used to simulate a person. If it was due to overloading the raft, they wouldn't have flown out. If the raft was weighted properly, it would stay against the slide. You should really research my "random talking points" that are facts, not worthless rambling. You should really take care of that saltiness bro. There's no reason to be rude when it's a childs death we're talking about.

400 lb MINIMUM. The boat usually travels around 70 mph but this time I believe it went much faster. Why? Because the boy was much lighter and was sitting in the front which allowed the nose of the boat to ride higher with less drag. Boats travel faster when the nose is up and there is less friction between the boat and the water. The ride is designed for a specific limit of weight, 400 lb minimum, but if the weight is not distributed correctly, the error will cause the boat to travel much faster and go air borne as it goes over the hump seen at 0:56. Proper weight and distribution of weight is critical for this ride.

Here ya go Poindexter, strap yourself in and prepare to be schooled. I hope you enjoy the ride: AERODYNAMIC FORCES When two solid objects interact in a mechanical process, forces are transmitted, or applied, at the point of contact. But when a solid object interacts with a fluid, things are more difficult to describe because the fluid can change its shape. For a solid body immersed in a fluid, the "point of contact" is every point on the surface of the body. The fluid can flow around the body and maintain physical contact at all points. The transmission, or application, of mechanical forces between a solid body and a fluid occurs at every point on the surface of the body. And the transmission occurs through the fluid pressure. Variation in Pressure The magnitude of the force acting over a small section of an object immersed in a fluid equals the pressure p times the area A of the section. A quick units check shows that: p * A = (force/area) * area = force As discussed on the fluid pressure slide, pressure is a scalar quantity related to the momentum of the molecules of a fluid. Since a force is a vector quantity, having both magnitude and direction, we must determine the direction of the pressure force. Pressure acts perpendicular (or normal) to the solid surface of an object. So the direction of the force on the small section of the object is along the normal to the surface. We denote this direction by the letter n. The normal direction changes from the front of the airfoil to the rear and from the top to the bottom. We indicate this variation on the figure by several small arrows pointing perpendicular to the surface and labeled with an n. To obtain the net mechanical force over the entire solid object, we must sum the contributions from all the small sections. Mathematically, the summation is indicated by the Greek letter sigma (The Greek letter sigma) The net aerodynamic force F is equal to the sum of the product of the pressure p times the incremental area delta A in the normal direction n. F = The Greek letter sigma p * n * delta A In the limit of infinitely small sections, this gives the integral of the pressure times the area around the closed surface. Using the symbol S dA for integration, we have: F = S (p * n) dA where the integral is taken all around the body. On the figure, that is why the integral sign has a circle through it. If the pressure on a closed surface is a constant, there is no net force produced because the summation of the directions of the normal adds up to zero. For every small section there is another small section whose normal points in exactly the opposite direction. F = S (p * n) dA = p * S n dA = 0 For a fluid in motion, the velocity has different values at different locations around the body. The local pressure is related to the local velocity, so the pressure also varies around the closed surface and a net force is produced. On the figure at the lower right, we show the variation of the pressure around the airfoil as obtained by a solution of the Euler equations. The blue line shows the variation from front to back on the lower surface, while the red line shows the variation from front to back on the upper surface, The black line gives the reference free stream pressure. Summing the pressure perpendicular to the surface times the area around the body produces a net force. F = S (p * n) dA Definitions of Lift and Drag Since the fluid is in motion, we can define a flow direction along the motion. The component of the net force perpendicular (or normal) to the flow direction is called the lift; the component of the net force along the flow direction is called the drag. These are definitions. In reality, there is a single, net, integrated force caused by the pressure variations along a body. This aerodynamic force acts through the average location of the pressure variation which is called the center of pressure. Velocity Distribution For an ideal fluid with no boundary layers, the surface of an object is a streamline. If the velocity is low, and no energy is added to the flow, we can use Bernoulli's equation along a streamline to determine the pressure distribution for a known velocity distribution. If boundary layers are present, things are a little more confusing, since the external flow responds to the edge of the boundary layer and the pressure on the surface is imposed from the edge of the boundary layer. If the boundary layer separates from the surface, it gets even more confusing. How do we determine the velocity distribution around a body? Specifying the velocity is the source of error in two of the more popular incorrect theories of lift. To correctly determine the velocity distribution, we have to solve equations expressing a conservation of mass, momentum, and energy for the fluid passing the object. In some cases, we can solve simplified versions of the equations to determine the velocity and pressure. Summary To summarize, for any object immersed in a fluid, the mechanical forces are transmitted at every point on the surface of the body. The forces are transmitted through the pressure, which acts perpendicular to the surface. The net force can be found by integrating (or summing) the pressure times the area around the entire surface. For a moving flow, the pressure will vary from point to point because the velocity varies from point to point. For some simple flow problems, we can determine the pressure distribution (and the net force) if we know the velocity distribution by using Bernoulli's equation.

So according to you, anything copied and pasted is REGURGITATED COPIED AND PASTED BULLSHIT, right? Well here ya go Poindexter, read it and weep: none of this is of any significance to what is being reported. perhaps you should apply this mathematical commentary to where it's necessary. this is certainly not the place for you to copy and paste your google findings, masquerading as your own insight. not to say that any of this is unfounded in the sense that angular velocities don't exist. however, you have retreated in the fantastical world of reverse engineered "explanations" to attempt to validate this story that is completely contrived and goes against literally everything that common sense stands for. lets entertain your copy and paste acumen, see if you can google the "explanation" of HOW this person actually came out of their seat. you have less than 2 seconds worth of travel time to satisfy the action of a seat belt coming undone, a person being forcibly ejected from their seat, UPWARDS, in such a manner that the body maintains literally ALL of its momentum to be then carried up the hill and down the slide, directly after the raft. remember, the body is going to be flopping around, hitting stuff, having its head ripped/torn/avulsed/severed/chopped/pulled off. you mean to tell me that its NOT getting tangled in the nylon netting that is not pulled completely tight across the supports? you mean to tell me that the distinct lack of clearance between the boat and the safety netting to allow a body to have its head ripped off is going to allow the boat to continue on, unabated and devoid of any blood? remember, there are no protrusions, bumps, obstacles or explosions that forcibly pushed the raft upwards perpendicular to its direction of travel. since that is not the case, what caused this person to be forcibly ejected from their seat? your regurgitated copy and paste bullshit SEEMS to hold water when you hit the search button and find your confirmation bias. what it also does is show how unable, or unwilling, you are to think for yourself. would it not make absolute sense, according to science and physics, that if he were indeed to become magically unrestrained by the seatbelt that he is not going to then start jumping and flopping around? would it not make sense this child would hold on for dear life to the HANDLES ON EACH SIDE as well as gripping as hard as he can into the area where your feet are used as leverage to hold you down? would it not make sense, according to the fucking math you attempt to use, that he would not randomly fall upwards while his momentum and the boat's momentum are carrying them downwards? would it not then make absolute, not-copy-and-paste sense, that if he were to fly out of his seat it would occur after the boat makes it's ascent to the second high point and then travels across the precipice? you know, his momentum would be tangental to the boat's direction of travel and since he is no longer restrained it would be perfectly logical that the point of separation would occur THERE and not randomly 50 feet from the bottom of the first drop, before angular momentum and vectors ACTUALLY come into play? in the immortal words of Brian Griffin: "are you sure it was a book you read? are you sure it wasn't NOTHING?"

Safety netting needed to keep loose riders inside flume!! Big clue right there. And the SAFETY (?) netting held in place with rigid hoops?!? That completes the deadly design. And the failed trial runs, poorly trained attendants, and overall disregard of engineering experience. No wonder it'll cost them more than $20,000,000 to get out of this mess. More like $30,000,000+.

I asked my parents if I could go on it and they lied and said I had to be 18 to ride it. I’m so glad they did that now and realized the danger. Though I still wanted to go on it, I thought that since it was built by professionals it had to be safe. It was odd seeing that once lively park be demolished, every time you saw the park it would remind you of the incident that occurred there.
@doxholiday1372 Жыл бұрын
Actually it was safe. That's why it operated for years prior to this. The problem was ride operators not following the safety protocols. The one actual flaw, the design of the enclosure, wouldn't have even been an issue if the ride's operators had followed minimum and maximum weight protocols, and seated riders properly according to size and weight. All that stuff about "footage of flying sandbags" during the testing phase is a smokescreen that has nothing to do with what happened. Of course rafts flew off during testing, they tried countless configurations to see what would happen, and made numerous changes to the ride's structure based on results.

I remember on a water slide the donuts were so big so I could easily fall through or off of it. I was very young and skinny so I was afraid and didn’t want to go on it. My cousins forced me and insisted so I tried it out. Now that I look back I think there should’ve been some age restrictions to that slide. When the slide was finished I landed in a dark pool and then fell off of my donut seat in to the pool. I started to drown because it was that type of water that looked shallow but was deep. I could swim but I started to drown because I hit my foot on a rock and it was bloody and hurt. The life guard was just starring at me in horror instead of doing her job and helping me! This other man came and saved me. He was not a life guard. I’ll always be grateful to that man. Im 17 now. He probably doesn’t remember me but I still remember how he looked. Nowadays I think they just hire any people to be life guards that don’t even know how to help.

Ever since I went on this water slide at Breakers Water Park in Arizona where it was a pitch black narrow tube filled with water that went on for 40 seconds having gallons of water sprayed on my face I almost suffocated and it was probably the closest I ever came to dying in my life. I don't risk unnecessarily, I always feel the worst is to survive an Incident. Look at all the factors before I ride anything. And when it comes to kids even more because you can't rewind, undo or deal when things go wrong. Things go wrong when everything should reasonably go right. So in these scenarios. No to any ride that isnt smooth or gentle on the body.
