I've never understood why it's considered "good" to shield people from seeing their loved ones one last time, whatever torn up or bloody state they're in. Otherwise, how could one confirm and accept the truth of what happened and get any closure? How would one know the "protective" person wasn't lying? Not knowing for sure, not confirming it myself, not being allowed to say goodbye, is what would haunt me forever. I'd be stuck in a cloud of ignorance and uncertainty because someone else took it upon themselves to withhold critical information after assuming I was too weak and stupid to process it. Mhm Mhm, they are stating the truth. The father was told that the son was too small to go on the ride. He basically threw his weight around and they finally let the boy go on the ride. Now the father is suing because he yelled at them and used his position as legislator o allow the or force them to break the rules and make an exception for his son. If the father did not think that he should be allowed to break the rules just because of his job status his son would still be alive. They first rejected him. He came down crying and the father made a big stink and they were forced to let the boy go on the rides. Now the father sued for the death he caused.

I agree with you in this situation. That said, these days you have to sign waivers for kids to do ANYTHING. Here’s a list of places/activities I’ve had to sign waivers for my son within the past year: indoor trampoline park, Fri night open gym for teens, a soccer tournament & most recently, when I dropped him off @ the skating rink I had to sign a waiver saying I wouldn’t sue if he got hurt while skating. Problem is there are way too many frivolous lawsuits so waivers have become the norm. But this situation was different IMO. I don’t blame the parents but personally I wouldn’t have allowed my son on the ride.

Stories like this are why I nearly have panic attacks every time my son rides a thrill ride. Two years ago, he was finally tall enough to ride a giant drop tower at a park near our house. He insisted on riding it with his dad. The entire time they rode to the top, I was sobbing on the ground. I told my husband to hold onto his arm and not let go no matter what. I just envisioned him slipping out of his seat. It's an all around terrible feeling, and my heart breaks for these parents.

Dont ever say that. Money will never replace a child. No matter how much money i could be given i would never give up my little sis (i don't have children this is the closest comparison because i acted more as a mother to her when our mother got incredibly sick for a few years) Family and people will stick with you forever. Memories and bonds aren't lost even if you aren't on good terms anymore. Even people i used to hate are important to me. Money is spent. It doesn't hold the same emotional value as a person. If i was in this family's position and i heard you say that to me i would get so pissed. Be a little more aware of others.

The park should have done better training in explaining the consequences and maybe had multiple life guards so they can help correct each other. I think they just hire teens, pay them minimum wage, and don’t really care to give more training then is legally required (which is barley anything.) the lifeguard probably was also a kid and thought it was nice to allow a smaller kid on since the kid would be excited. Barley trained kids shouldn’t be in charge of lives or safety. That’s something that parks need to stop doing

@phughesphoto4 жыл бұрын
I saw a different, more in depth video about this. It was a weight distribution problem. Caleb was on this ride with two women, grown women, meaning a heavier weight from them. If memory serves and please correct me if I’m wrong or remembered incorrectly, but Caleb was seated in the front with the heavier adult weight in the seats behind him. This lighter weight up front is what caused the raft to go airborne at the area where the incident occurred. Had he been in the middle, he might have survived, it has been suggested. This should not have happened. I know, especially kids love these thrill rides but dammit, test them to the breaking point with every engineering aspect before you let the public on it ~ it’s just uncalled for when an innocent child dies. RIP Sweetie. ❤️

Lots and lots of money. I’m sure they settled for millions. I’m sure they are still heartbroken but they might have got like $20 million for all we know. It’s messed up and I believe they would rather have their son, but to be honest, I think it’s incredibly stupid that anyone goes on these rides. I’m almost 30 and I’ve never felt safe going on any of these extreme rides. I’ve done some roller coasters but nothing to crazy. There are inherent risks with these rides. People need to use their head and way risks vs rewards better. And I do take my own advice. What’s worth more? A crazy day at a theme park or having your whole family alive? Obviously hindsight is 2020 but seriously, I don’t know how people don’t look at that ride and feel nauseous. It clearly just looks unsafe and completely unecessary. It’s designed to be extreme and the more you push the boundaries, the greater the risk. It’s sad the kid died but 99.9999% of people who rode that ride didn’t get injured. Obviously the park should be responsible for the tragedy but my point is: don’t be an idiot - you’re 100-300 lbs of biological matter that is incredibly vulnerable. Riding these extremely high, metal rides is not smart and you’re putting your life in the hands of engineers that you do not know. I think I’ve made my point. Simply understand that just because something is at a theme park, mall, in the government, etc. doesn’t mean it’s inherently safe or flawless. Take appropriate risks and you won’t end up dead. Sad story but the best people can do is learn from it. Unfortunately, most wont.

I don't trust water slides or any kind of fair rides anymore because I was riding on a water slide one time and the current of it flipped my body and I landed head first into the pool. Pool attendants came over to help me out of the pool because I was dazed. Luckily I wasn't injured but it scared me so much that anytime I see a water slide my heart pounds. Rip to this little boy.

It seems water rides are the most dangerous. Rollecoasters however are quite safe as most of them have censors that stop the ride from operating if they sense something is wrong. The ride operators can't override it either. It think this happens on other rides too. I think the reason water rides are so dangerous is because they don't tend to have safety restraints and if they do, they're quite weak. Chances of you getting injured on a coaster are even smaller than that of a plane

@ashleymiller93186 жыл бұрын
It's basically there to prevent you from getting thrown completely off the ride, in a sense going over the slide's ledge. The rings or bars are there to hold it in place. Sadly because the ride was going so fast, combined with the fact that they didn't weigh enough combined or the weight was not distributed evenly, the force caused Caleb to be thrown and he hit one of the bars, decapitating him. The other riders were also hurt, I believe one of them was hit in the jaw by his head, breaking her jaw. The whole thing is tragic and should have never happened.

Years later and I still cannot fathom leaving for a fun treat trip and you leave with 4 boys and come back with 3. You're looking in the rear view mirror and where you saw 4, there are now 3. How does ones brain reconcile that?! I cannot even begin to imagine any of this as a parent myself. Heartbreaking is an understatement. I'm praying that his brother wasn't looking at him when he actually became decapitated and just saw possibly the aftermath because that is something you just can't live with.
