My father did the hike with the Japanese army shooting at him - He didn't talk much about the landings at Wewak, Buna and Hollandia but this was the part of the war he remembered most. I have many photos with the bearers and his thin and wore out battalion. The US contingent was small and so were the Australians - it was no quarter combat on both sides. Enjoyed watching your video - the porters were singing the PNG National Anthem at Brigade -'We are independent, we are free, Papua New Guinea'. My daughter and I did the Track in 2018, my second time end to end. Words cannot describe the emotions!
