The show pays each side 5,000, any settlements come out of that money. Plus the show pays for room, food per diem, and transportation. In this case, both got $5k (appearance fee) and she gets the two items back. If he doesn’t return the two items, the show won’t give him the $5k appearance fee. It’s all in the contract they sign to appear on the show. Now could he fuck up the items before he returns them? Yes. She could appeal that to the show. If he does it too egregiously, he could still risk his $5k.

this was properly decided BUT I think the man was telling the truth - she wanted more than he did and she was spending on him. We've seen it time and again on JJ that one party spends on another in a one-sided relationship. Sometimes it is a man spending on a woman (or on a younger man) or sometimes a woman spending on a man. It happens A LOT. And when the relationship sours, then the person who spent the money wants it back. PROBABLY it was intended as a gift, but a gift based on the relationship. She did not loan him money to buy those things. She bought them for him because she liked him and now they are no more together.
